The staff were so helpful they could not do more to make our stay at the hotel any better. The food was very good. The room over looking minch to Rum was very nice. The locals are just as helpful and friendly. We will be booking up for next year. The weather was brilliant not ideal for fishing but very good.

We booked this hotel due to its close proximity to the ferry for Oban and it is obvious that the hotel takes advantage of that by charging £90 for a double room. The room was of a poor standard and the whole hotel has a neglected appearance. Waited 3/4 of an hour to have a tasteless dinner served and 25 minutes after finishing the main course, our plates had still not been taken away. Next morning there was no hot water. By far the worst hotel we stayed in during our stay in the Western Isles and to charge £90 for a room is a disgrace.

What a lovely hotel and fantastic location. The staff were local and very friendly and attentive. Food was excellent, fresh and local. Its a very old hotel but full of character and characters. I will definately go back again

In need of refurbishment, and some some money spent, although the dining room had been recently refurbished, although the rest of the hotel could do with some paint.

Rooms average, no TV, shower not working, and no cold water, although beds were comfortable and warm, light bulbs needing replacing.

Meals are very good, and staff are helpful and pleasant.

Lochboisdale itself is a dump, so plan only to stay overnight in this hotel, if catching the ferry as there is nothing else to see in Lochboisdale other than a council house estate. Much nicer parts to the islands further north.

I agree with the other reviews about the stunning location of this hotel! The hotel is in need of a cash boost. Our room was clean & the food was lovely. The front dining room has obviously had money spent on it which makes it a good enviroment to eat in. Then you can relax with a glass of wine infront of the open fire. Most of the staff were pleasent & helpfull! Except one girl called Louise who worked behind the lounge bar during the day, who we found to be rude, unhelpful and not interested in our needs. This was our first visit to Lochboisdale Hotel and I think we will be back some time in the future.

Really good location. The view was excellent. Breakfast was quite good. However, the staff were more friendly with the 'locals' at the bar than customers of the hotel, which was a problem when ordering drinks. The hotel needs more than a lick of paint; everything seems tired. website. However, it was clean throughout. Expensive for what it is; you pay for the view. Lochboisdale itself was a ghost town; we wish we had stayed longer in Barra instead.

Where to start? This was our most expensive B&B at NINTY POUNDS! We booked this hotel due to its proximity to the ferry terminal, where our check in time was 8.30am. We booked our stay in March, the booking was handled promptly deposit taken etc. We booked a double room with a view!
When we arrived our host told us where to go, didn't bother to show us to our room, help us with our cases etc, and mentioned in passing that the water was off! I enquired whether we needed to book a table in the restaurant for dinner, he was quite off hand and said we could if we wanted and told us to tell the girls in the bar and pointed in that direction! In the bar we waited with other guests nearly 5 mins for an answer to the bell and said we'd like a table, the nice girl did not even take our name or room number!
Our freshly decorated room was a family room, huge, double bed, single bed and bunks with one small window overlooking the rear of the hotel and the cattle pens! When my partner queried this with the lady owner she said it was the only double they had! She then moaned about the lack of water. We were forced to boil a kettle (only plug at floor level and this is a family room?) in order to wash.
The dining room was charming and freshly decorated the views great, I had hoped / expected some apology for the water problem perhaps a free glass of wine? The menu was OK no sauce offered with the steak, one item not available. Service was pleasant but slow. The dining room was full despite the owner's offhand manner.
Breakfast was not in the dining room we followed the smell of bacon as no-one had bothered to tell us there was a breakfast room! Breakfast was OK but no continental offered.
Needless to say the bill was ready at reception and no discount offered for the lack of washing facilities.
To charge top rate prices a hotel should offer top service and facilities and we didnot receive either.
