We stayed 2 nights in Silifke at the Arisan. It is listed in the Rough Guide to Turkey, so we thought we would give it a go. It is 2 minutes walk from the Otogar [bus station] and we were arriving by bus, so it seemed perfect. The hotel itself is a comfortable 5-10 minute walk to the town centre. The room was very plain and the sheets were dirty. There is no housekeeping that we would see, and our towels were not replaced on the 2nd day. We had a room with balcony, except the balcony door did not lock or close properly, so we had to push the wardrobe up against the door whilst we were out for the day. The staff said that they could do nothing about it. The room had a tv [with about 300+ channels] but no fridge. The rooms have air conditioning [you pay an extra 5YTL per night, to have aircon in your room]. There was no hot water in the shower either in the morning, midday or evening. Another friend was staying at the same hotel at the same time & she had the same problem with the water. The hotel was disappointing. Nothing seemed to work in the room, and the staff are not particularly helpful, even if you do have basic Turkish, they don't appear to care about anything after you've booked your room with them. Would not recommend staying here to anyone... travellers are better advised to stay in the large city of Mersin or in nearby Kizkalesi, which have many more accommodation options than Silifke and are closer to attractions such as the Maidens Castle, the caves of heaven & hell, not to mention the great beaches.
