Owner description: Zip World Snowdonia is the longest zip wire in the northern hemisphere and is the fastest in the world! Reaching speeds of up to 100 mph+, it is also a guided adventure experience that lasts for approx 2 hours, and is located in the most dramatic of settings - Penrhyn Quarry which is nestled amongst the mountains of north Wales. Zip World is a first for the UK, the site contains four specially constructed and amazing zip lines, the 'little zipper' first will take you down to the bottom of the quarry, reaching speeds of up to 40mph, you will then pick up your specialised vehicle for a magnificent quarry tour in what was once the largest slate quarry in the world, before then zip lining back down over a mile, looking down at what was until the 1950s the largest man-made hole on the planet. Experience the nearest thing to flying today!

The zip wire is great fun when you are actually doing it but during the 1.5 / 2 hour experience you are actually only on the zip wire (including little and big zipper) for less than a minute. The rest of the time is padded out through suiting up, walking to initial start point, queing or watching others on the ride (up to an hour for both rides), truck ride to start of big zipper etc. I guess the busier it gets then the quicker the 'experience' turn around will be so they can get more people on the ride and more profit! However, its definitely worth doing but at £50 i wouldnt bother returning a second time. Finally, a bit of advice.....when you are at the top of the big zipper, unless you want to sit and take in the view for around 30 mins then try and get on the ride first. As once you have done it you can go and get changed and leave rather than having to wait for the whole party / group to finish.

www.zipworld.co.uk deserves much more coverage.
This is a real coup for Wales. The fastest zipwire in the world, the third longest zipwire in the world, the biggest and fastest in the Northern Hemisphere...........

It looks great and with those kind of claims has quite a reputation to live up to and it doesn't fail!

From the moment you arrive the staff are fantastic. Very friendly, very helpful and absolutely put you at ease. They really do deserve a special mention. Everyone there appears to love their job!

The zipwires rides themselves and fantastic.
The Natural beauty of the landscape surrounding the quarry and the views from the top are breathtaking. The quarry lake shines a brilliant blue as the sky and slate reflect upon it and for those unfamiliar with this area of Wales it really is an eye opener to the stunning Welsh scenery.

I have seen the odd review saying that £50 is expensive for a zipwire that lasts about a minute.
Well let me put your mind at rest. This experience is worth every penny.
And that's exactly what it is, an exeperience, not just a ride.

The experience from start to finish last between 2 to 3 hours.
There's a smaller (yet still bloody big!) zipwire to get a taste of things to come. Then a ride and tour in the truck which is lovely in itself, some spectacular views. And then comes the grand finale, the big zip.

The noise sounds like a jet engine and as you hurtle from the start, just meters above the Welsh slate you suddenly find yourself several hundred feet above the stunning blue lake. Everything seems to slow down and you really do get that "like a bird" feeling.
It's a wonderful experience full of exhilaration and excitement, but strangely at no point whatsoever do you feel at risk or unsafe.

If you are looking for something out of the ordinary to do and whether you are a extreme sports fan or not, give it a go. You'll just want to go again.

Out with the lads the night before to celebrate a 40th this was just the ticket to cure my hangover. It was a lovely morning, the staff were nice and plenty of them making safety checks at all times and making sure I had the correct clothing to suit my weight.

The whole experience was great and the big zip was awesome - get it booked!!!

I am a somewhat overweight 60 year old female who had a fear of heights (along with a heart condition I might add!). But I overcame it on a recent trip to Whistler on the Eagle Tour. The attention to safety detail was impeccable, and our guides, Tom and Ellie, were professional and inspirational. As a matter of fact, I hung upside down and hands free on the last zip line! I highly recommend this tour.

Living only a few miles away I treated my daughter to a visit to Zip World today and was hugely impressed. Upon arrival a friendly welcome awaited at reception and this theme was carried on by every other staff member we encountered. I had the pleasure of meeting one of the directors, Nick who had masterminded the design and construction of the Zip lines. He could not have been any more helpful and indeed was fully engaged in the very professional pre flight ( and it is a flight ! ) safety checks . Ben who also assisted with these and acted as our tour guide was also very helpful and gave a great non scripted brief history of the slate quarry during the journey to the release station. My daughter described the actual flight as the coolest thing she's ever done and coming from a teenage adrenalin junkie then that says it all really. In summary a very professional , friendly and exhilarating experience that I would recommend to anyone.
