We went to Deer Pasture in May and I have been meaning to review the stay for weeks. The house is very spacious and well designed, with a large well equipped kitchen/ dining room that leads into the living room with its comfy sofas and large windows that overlook the loch. It was great to get back after a day of walking through the machiar to sit and watch the birds soaring and the sheep and lambs hopping through the rocky meadow. One evening we saw the deer - difficult to spot as they are so well camouflaged. The bedrooms, beds and bathrooms are all of the highest specification with all the wind and fresh air we were glad to sleep in comfort. The house is really energy efficient with underfloor climate heating, great insulation and the option of a fire if it is really cold (although I can't imagine needing it). There was loads of hot water, not always the case with large house rentals - which meant there was no waiting for it to heat up again. Allan was the perfect host - easy to chat to, kind, considerate with a good sense of humour. Lastly location - the positioning of the house is ideal for visiting North and South Uist and Benbecula, it is far enough from the road to be peaceful and close enough to get around easily. This is the perfect house for a visit to these wild, beautiful and friendly Islands.
Fantastic location with easy access to explore North and South Uist with walks from the door. Amazing views over views over Loch Bee and the hillside from several windows. The house itself is warm and spacious and finished to a very high standard. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting North or South Uist.
When you arrive there is no name plate and as you approach down the long drive Deer Pasture looks quite plain but walk in and the whole place impresses instantly.
A very spacious property and beautifully appointed - it appears to have everything you could possibly want for any length of stay. There are lovely views East and a nice walk down the adjacent Peat Road to Loch Bi and other small lochs - fascinating to watch the Eriskay Ponies wading out to an island. We also had red deer stags within 200 yards of the garden.
If the weather is right - wonderful sunsets from the nearest section of beach but you have to drive through the MOD facility - daytime it sometimes closes for testing activities but evenings there is no one around.
Allan the owner lives nearby and is extremely helpful in every way.
A superb holiday property - it has to be one of the best in the Uists.
We stayed here for a two weeks and had a fantastic holiday. The property was finished to a very high standard and there was so much room. The views from the lounge window over the loch allowed us to watch Sea Eagles and Osprey ! The owner was so friendly and helpful and had some great ideas for exploring South Uist. The weather was brilliant. One of our best holidays ever.Thank you Allan !
Fantastic location, with amazing views over Loch Bee and plenty of wildlife to view from the window. The house itself is warm and spacious. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting the island.
Good, clean, spacious, modern house. Extremely well equipped. Allan (the owner) made us feel very welcome. The house has tremendous views. We were visited by a herd of about 20 deer one evening and a Hen Harrier enjoyed its evening meal in a neighbouring field on another evening. The location made it easy to visit both North Uist and Beneray in one direction and Barra and Vatersay in the other direction. Top class.
Our second visit to Deer Pasture and just as good as last time.
If the weather's poor,it's just perfect for relaxing...Everything has been thought of.All furnishings are of a high standard. Views from every window..... we saw deer , ponies and geese. Very quiet and comfy bed ensure a good night's sleep.
Excellently situated for exploring North and South Uist and Benbecula if you can tear yourself away from the house.
Simply one of the very best self catering properties we have ever stayed in...Thank you!
