“Went back again !!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

We were travelling through the North of France on our way to St Malo last September and decided to try a B & B in St Folquin ( http://www.chambres-haute-muraille.com - see my review of this little gem too). Our host , Beatrice, suggested Le Turbot in nearby Gravelines. Like most other reviewers , we started with the scallops. Our choice was with the house sauce . Wow ! It's one of those dishes that your taste buds remember and if you try really hard, you can almost recapture that sensational first bite. Then came the superbly cooked duck with raspberry sauce.

We decided to stay two nights in St Folquin partly because my partner was battling a dreadful cold, partly because La Haute Muraille was such a wonderful place to stay .... but I think it was mostly because we just had to have those scallops again!

“Le Turbot for lunch”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Visited Thursday 11th October - I was little concerned as we were the only customers at the time(12.45) We started off with a dish of Scallops with Mushrooms in a Champagne and cream sauce absolutely divine in presentation and flavours ( In fact my partner was worried that she would have insufficient crispy roll to mop up the sauce!) We followed this veal dish which was delicious and every bit as good as the Starter. All rounded off with the Chef's Surprize dessert - this was a house version of " Bombe Alaska" with fruit and Grand Marnier, again faultless. The whole was a culinary experience not to be forgotten. I must add that several people came into the restaurant as we were eating. There is also ample car parking in the street immediately outside

“Superb!”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

This is about my 6th visit to this restaurant, situated in Gravelines about 10 minutes drive from Dunkerque Ferry Port. On this occaision I went for lunch with my partner and adult daughter.
The food was absolutly wonderful as usual..the scallops in champagne sauce were to die for as was our perfectly cooked duck with a fresh raspberry sauce.
We will certainly be going back there again

“Fantastic dinner, great service and food”
Reviewed October 9, 2011

What a find - in this small seaside town this is a gem of a restaurant. Seafood is the speciality and the menus are fantastic value. Why can't we do this in England!

“Even better than I had remembered!”
Reviewed August 31, 2011

We originally found this restaurant by accident - it's in a residential area away from the town centre. As you will see on their website they have several different prix fixe menus, which are all fantastic value. This time we booked in advance as it gets very busy on a Saturday night, mostly with locals (we were the only English people in the restaurant that night).
Whilst perusing the options and enjoying a house cocktail, we were brought some small cheesy puff pastry bites. After ordering and before the first course, an amuse bouche of crevettes gris with a mirepoix of summer vegetables in a delicate curry soup was offered - this was so good that I could have eaten a bowl as my whole meal! This was followed by a seafood salad - three types of prawns, scallops and freshly picked crab on salad leaves accompanied by a wonderful home-made mayonnaise. As a main course I enjoyed veal sweetbeads (not everybody's choice) in a calvados sauce, with purees of celeriac and carrot and boulanger potatoes. Next came a trio of local cheese, and finally an 'assiette gourmand' - a selection of 5 different desserts. All this for the princely sum of 31 Euros!!
The service was friendly and efficient, and at the end of service the chef (and owner) came round to every table to introduce himself.
If in the area you will find it hard to beat.
