The Old Farmhouse

We arrived in Raskelf fairly tired after a whistle-stop visit to Germany, and needed a recharge. The Old Farm House was the perfect choice. Its in a lovely quiet location in rural Yorkshire, yet centrally positioned so nothing of interest is very far away. This B & B is professionally run, but in a relaxed and friendly manner that puts you instantly at ease. Our en-suite room was well equipped, nicely appointed, comfortable and spotless, and the facilities (eg. guests lounge area) are great. The English style breakfasts were second to none and nicely presented. The hosts are lovely people perfectly suited to the hospitality industry. I wish we could have stayed longer than three nights. There is a nice country pub across the road if you want a quick pint and tasty pub style lunch or dinner. It also has off street parking which is convenient. One of the best B & B's I've stayed in - if not the best.

Room Tip: Get the room overlooking the back yard. (Room 2?) Its quiet and has a view.

Hello, 4 of us stayed here for 2 nights. I picked this B&B after reading the very good reviews!
We were impressed, excellent breakfast and the owners even bought in tinned tomatoes after I asked for them instead of fresh grilled ones!! A lovely pleasant stay in a very clean home! Thankyou!!! :-D

My wife and I stayed on Saturday night as we were at a show nearby the next day. The owners made us most welcome. It was very clean and the breakfast was very good. My only grumble would be the television in the room was only 12 inch wide. Otherwise everything was and you would hope a good B&B to be.

I stayed in this B&B with my girlfriend and her family as we were attending a wedding near by. Exceeded our expectations...great place to stay. I would defiantly recommend this B&B. Great quality room with fantastic facilities and a great personal touch by the owners

I stayed at this B&B on a Saturday night as I was at a wedding nearby. I stayed in a single room (room 3) and was very impressed from start to finish. The hosts were very friendly and attentive and I felt valued as a guest. I was shown to my room which was lovely with all the comforts needed, the most comfy bed I have ever slept in and nice extra touches like hairdryers, tea and biscuits and toiletries. The shower was also great, very powerful and hot. The breakfast was excellent and cooked to perfection. With all this, I was surprised to only pay £40 for the room and think this is amazing value. My friend stayed in one of the doubles and her room was also gorgeous and she valued the fact she was only charged a single price, not for two people. Overall, highly recommend, lovely place and hosts, I would definitely return.

I have stayed here twice (2010 and 2012) and am looking forward to another stay here in 2013! Already booked! Very remise of me not to have posted a report before, but this B&B is great! Very comfortable, really friendly hosts and convenient location for visiting York,(especially if you use the Park and Ride), James Herriot Country and the north York moors. Highly recommend.

A much needed comfortable stay on the cold nights with lovely hosts. Easy to relax after work and good value for money. Especially when the hosts looked after me so well, being flexible for an early start and even covering my car at night so I didn't have to defrost it in the morning! Wonderful! (as we're the sweet treats left in the room) and nice hot shower with good pressure
