We first were given room #104 on the ground level. In the afternoon, we saw a big cockroach in the otherwise clean shower room and asked a staff to remove the roach. Yet despite generous Baygon spray that afternoon, we still saw another giant roach in the evening. Which triggered our frantic, immediate move to another room at the upper level that evening (credit to the staff: they at least allowed us to move).

The lodge is located near Coron Coliseum & Recreational Center. And in the 4 nights we stayed there, there were events (singing contests, concerts, pageants, etc - I'm not sure which) every night, starting around 9-10pm that lasted past midnite, 1am or so!!! This is the killing factor to us. Sleep deprivation was not in our tolerable list, but we gotta to endure it the whole 4 nights. The staff told us that the events are temporary, some university students held a competition. First we believed it, thinking that the events would surely end over the weekend. Yet it continued on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and even Monday which is weekday already. Our conclusion: don't count on your luck, sleep deprivation is a high risk factor here, given the lodge location being near to the town functional hall. And believe us, we're talking about very, very noisy events here: imagine a hundred of fans screaming with drums rolling and loud speaker.

Room is tiny but functional. Other than the roach thing, the place looks clean.

Staff is young, friendly and available.

Food choice is very limited, even for a budget hotel. Do not serve vegetable or chicken, which is hard for us who do not eat pork/read meat much and who do like a healthier choice of food. We think the lodge can still be a bit more generous with the food range.

Despite the budget price, we still won't return to the lodge, largely because of the noise factor mentioned above.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms, far from the kitchen and dining area, are quieter.

Thank you for your valuable comments. It is unfortunate that your stay with us coincided with the school and town events held at the town hall. Regarding the roaches, while we do keep a very strict cleaning procedure not only in our rooms but also in the common areas, it is possible that such came from adjacent properties. Thank you for the information, and we shall look into that. As for the food, we are already looking into improving and expanding the menu in view of increasing occupancy.

My husband and I stayed one night at Coron Ecolodge. The rooms are functional, but clean and comfortable. Easy walk to market etc. The staff do their best to be helpful, but aren't always completely successful. Overall a good choice for a short stay.

Thank you for your short review of Coron Ecolodge. We will do our very best to continue making efforts in further improving further on our staff's customer relations. We have begun by doing a revamp of employees and more by orienting them from time to time about reviews we receive from guests like you who help us in determining our shortcomings. Thank you again and we hope to see again in the near future.

We really enjoyed staying at Coron Ecolodge until an incident on the morning that we left.

We felt like the organized tour packages were reasonably priced and we even customized ours a bit by adding diving for one person. The diving company that they arranged our dive with (Coron Divers) was really great.

The breakfasts were good enough for getting the day started but we would recommend venturing out for other meals of the day. They also only had instant coffee which was pretty bad. The staff were very friendly but were not helpful in recommending activities outside of the pre-planned tour packages.

The location of EcoLodge is great- it's in the middle of the town so you can walk to restaurants, shops, the market, the park on the coast, etc.

On our check-out day, we left the room to go for one last walk around the town about an hour before our shuttle to the airport arrived. It was during this time that one of us left our wallet on top of our suitcase inside our room instead of locked inside the suitcase. We didn't realize money was missing from it until arriving at the airport so it was too late for us to do anything, however we were certain that we locked the door and know that unfortunately it was one of the hotel staff that stole about $100 from our wallet.

Of course the hotel has a policy that they are not liable for anything that goes missing and it was against our better judgetment to leave a wallet out in the open. It would be great if EcoLodge would have small safes in each room but since they don't, locks on suitcases are definitely necessary.

We enjoyed our stay but unfortunately it was tainted by our money being stolen by the hotel staff.

Thank you for informing us about this unpleasant incident. We would be more than willing to help you recover your partner's lost money but it would be premature to point a finger at anyone at the moment until a proper investigation has been conducted. It will help us a lot if you can give us more details about the incident if you can coordinate with me through my email (manny_cin@yahoo.com) . We will never tolerate and condone any untoward incident to our guests and you can be assured of our utmost cooperation.

Booked in September only to arrive and found they changed the rate. The hotel said the would honor the original booking rate, but upon check out, they charged us the new rate and said they would not honor the booked rate.

Wifi is really weak, and most times not strong enough to support all guests. In fact, I was never able to connect with my laptop during a week's stay.

Rooms are ok, but only have twins. Married couples sleep apart.

While the coffee is unlimited in the lobby, they make you pay for tea.

Food was excellent, as was the staff. Very friendly. However, they tend to steer guests toward more expensive dining options and tours. One is better served walking in town and booking own deals and services.

However, the bait and switch approach to the room rate wend this a definite NO WAY WILL I STAY HERE AGAIN rating for QiRanger Productions.

Thank you for your review. First of all, we would like to inform you that we value your opinions as our guest and we take seriously all your comments in order to reach our desire to make the hotel the best place for everyone to stay.

Last Dec 26, the hotel management decided to raise its room rates from P 1,598.00 to P 1,898.00. Our rule of thumb is when a guest makes a payment reservation online before that date, then the old rate will be applied. If you did this and still was charged based on the new rate, then we are willing to refund the excess amount.

The new rates are still within affordable range and commensurate to the other hotels around town.

Also, please be advised that we only raised our room rates, not our boat and town tours.

On our website and online inquiries, we make sure that we inform everyone that all rooms are for double occupancy with twin beds. Inquirers therefore, are properly advised what kind of beds and rooms we offer.

Coffee is included in the breakfast buffet that guests enjoy when they pay for the room- tea isn't. But we will take into consideration your opinion about the tea and see if we can include it in the buffet breakfast.

Wifi signal in Coron IS INDEED inconsistent due to the fact that there is no phone connection available in town. We only utilize broadband for our guests.

Thank you for commending our staff but it is never our intention to mislead guests to make them spend on places that are not worth their money or with poor standards. We only try to help guests who are unfamiliar with the town and who would like to try other foods of good quality. We only recommend to guests who ask for our help but in the end, it is still your option whether to take it or not.

We, however, appreciate your candidness and would still like to offer our hotel and services to you and your friends in the future. Maybe the next time you come back, you will have a more pleasing experience.

Regards and happy travelling.

The hotel's location is good - restaurants, ATMs, souvenir shops are all within walking distance. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The tour packages that they offer are reasonably priced since almost everything's included like airport pickup, island hopping tours inclusive of entrance fees and guides, breakfast and lunch. All my friends agree that the package that we availed, as well as our entire stay at the hotel, was really worth our money. I'd definitely stay there again when I go back.

We found a great deal (via MetroDeal) for a trip for 2 in Coron. EcoLodge is not actually the hotel that we were gunning for but as our guide claims, the one that we booked couldnt accomodate us anymore. Luckily, EcoLodge was worth it. It is situated in the heart of Coron. Souvenir shops, decent restaurants, ATM, and what-have-you are accessible. The staff is friendly, always smiling and would greet you every time you meet them in the hallway. The food is okay, although I would have loved to see more variety. The room we had was just right. Unfortunately, during our stay, there were times when there'd be water shortage. This happened twice out of our 3-day stay but that was promptly addressed. One downside is that there's no intercom. If you want to order food to eat or request for clean sheets, you'd have to go downstairs and talk to the staff. There's also no decent smoking area on the 2nd floor: it's just a small balcony next to guests' rooms. All in all, Id say that staying in EcoLodge made my trip quite special. I hope the management does read these comments and improve on these little stuff. If I ever go back to Coron, Id say EcoLodge as my hotel of choice.

We're very glad to know that we have become a convenient replacement to your originally chosen hotel. We do our best to make our guests feel as comfortable as possible at our hotel.

Just to let you know, the hotel was designed not to have an intercom as guests are expected to be out of the hotel most of the time.

As for the food choices, we have better plans for the hotel and hopefully soon, we can address your concern. In fact, we plan to add bigger rooms across the street.

During your stay last July, the water supply was being attended to by the hotel and unfortunately you caught us at the wrong time. Now, we have filtered water (still undrinkable) that is much cleaner, clearer and better than the water before.

One of the campaigns that the hotel is supporting is the Clean Air Act. Reason for us not to allow smoking within hotel premises and right reason for naming CORON ECOLODGE as such.

We stayed in Coron Ecolodge for our 3 days & 2 nights Coron getaway and also for business purposes since we are a new travel agency (Blue Diamond Travel and Tours) in Cebu and we are in search of accommodations and tours in Coron to include in our tour packages that we can market to our clients. I've heard a lot of great reviews about this new hotel in the heart of Coron town that I decided to pay a visit for familiarization. I would have to commend their staff for their warm and friendly disposition. I felt at home instantly when we checked in. The hotel has just enough facilities that can make your stay comfortable. The rooms are simple. I hope they will consider putting wifi and an intercom perhaps in every room for convenience - so guests will lessen their trips to the lobby. The water in the bathroom has this very light yellow tinct and smells a little rusty, just a little though.
The location is convenient since it's just a few minutes walking distance from restaurants and other establishments in the town. It is about 30-45 mins. from the Busuanga airport. Our flight going back to Cebu is scheduled to leave at 12:50 PM. Front dest knocked at our door as early as 9:54 AM to inform us that the van that will take us to the airport is already waiting for us. Totally unprepared, we had to talk to the driver to wait a while because we are not yet done packing our stuffs. Luckily the driver gave us a 15 mins. extension and the other passengers in the van are ok about having to wait a few minutes more. So in just 15 minutes we hurriedly packed our things and got ready to leave . We would have appreciated it if hotel staff informed us the pick-up time a day earlier or a few hours earlier so we will be ready by the time the van arrives.
Our overall stay was pleasant. Some minor glitches are negligible compared to the memorable Coron experiences we had. Thanks to this hotel for accommodating us. We'd probably recommend Coron Ecolodge to our clients for our Coron packages but will still also look for other accommodations in Coron for other options.

Room Tip: All their rooms are the same but I would suggest getting one in the first floor for convenience.

Thank you for commending our friendly staff. We consider them as an asset especially in the realm of hospitality business.
The water supply in Coron is deep well, which is not drinkable and is acidic- reason for the yellowish color as it eats away the metal pipe tubes. This is not unusual in any resort around the country. Despite of this fact, we have contracted a reputable filtration group to clean out the water going into the hotel to make it less acidic and safer.

Check out time at the hotel is 12PM that is why preparing early on for your departure is a must.

We look forward to having you as a business partner and we'll be expecting guests coming from your office soon. Cheers and more power.
