i just got time to run upstairs for the sunset, peaceful and tranquil scenery from the hilltop, starting around 6pm. it was supposed that the sunrise is also wonderful with another sensation.

Don't bother. This is more of an exercise than anything else. The cross that's supposedly at the top of the mountain is still under maintenance (Super Typhoon Haiyan blew it away), but even with it, there's nothing to see. The view is half of the Busuanga town (roofs and echoing sounds from the church at the foot of the mountain) and water separating 2 sides of the curving Busuanga island). Its historic significance? It's called "Tapyas" (the local word for "cut") because Japanese missiles/canon hit the top of the mountain at the height of WW2, and managed to cut a chunk out of the mountain.

Climbing the 700+ steps is no joke but I'm glad I did it. From the top you can see the Coron town and its port, the Coron island, and the Calamianes group of islands. It's a very nice view from up there. I just wasn't able to get a perfect picture of the place because of the dark sky as it was about to rain that time. Without the rain though, it's a perfect place to see the sunset. There's a hut built at the top where you can sit and just be amazed by the sight you see.

Definitely the most challenging trek I had in my life and in my travels by far! 700+ steps going up is no joke. I cannot believed we subjected ourselves to it. Bring water and snacks. you will definitely need it
