My daughter lives in Los Alamos so we are frequent visitors. On our most recent visit we stayed for one night at the Hampton Inn since all hotels in Los Alamos were booked. Just thought The Tripadvisor readers should be aware that it is NOT in Los Alamos as indicated in the listings. It is in nearby ( approx 10 mins ) White Rock, a "surburb" of Los Alamos. A nice little bedroom community, just not much there. The accommodations were as expected for a Hilton property - nice room, comfortable bed, decent breakfast, and friendly and helpful staff. Slightly overpriced for the market, but not outrageous. I would say it is the best hotel in the area, but at a handicap since there is little to do after dark in White Rock.

We prefer Los Alamos, which has a number of good restaurants, but sometimes booked up due to Lab visitors. Be sure to try these restaurants:
Blue Window - great food, service sets the standard for Los Alamos ( but that is not saying a lot )
Brew Pub - good bar, jumbo beer selection, excruciatingly slow service, but still the liveliest place in town.
Chili works - only open for breakfast and lunch, a bit of a dive but if you want the real New Mexican food don't miss it, the red or green chili is awesome.
El Parasol - great New Mexican food, they have it all at reasonable prices.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet, as is White Rock

Great location if taking the shuttle bus over to Bandelier- just about a block away from bus stop. Room was big, clean, etc. Not a lot of restaurants nearby to choose from. Complimentary breakfast was good.

This is an excellent Hampton Inn. Everything from the helpful desk staff to the cleanliness of rooms was very much appreciated. The small town location is lacking in nearby restaurants, but the person at the desk was able to recommend a good place to eat.

Up to Hampton Inn standards, great price, fantastic location - close to Bandelier, Los Alamos & Valle Caldera. There is only one restaurant in White Rock, but it is open 7 days a week & there's also a Smith's grocery store nearby. And Los Alamos is very close also for dining options. Was also close enough to Santa Fe that we went for an afternoon trip & lunch and were back in time for dinner in Los Alamos, so this location was perfect for the combination of hiking & sightseeing that we water to do
