Relaxing bike ride with beautiful views around the island. Make sure you hire your bike on the island as it would be a mission taking one over from Kratie. Also make sure the tyres are pumped up!

We took the ferry across and hired bicycles but couldnt complete the loop of the island. Some of the paths were flooded. We had a nice relaxing drink in the luxury bungalow resort there and completed our ride to the other end of the island. We took the last ferry back between 4-5pm. Overall a pleasant half day out.

The island is located in front of Kratie (5 minutes by ferry), and offers a unique atmosphere. You feel like to be in a remote place: peacefull and far away from the traffic.

Beautiful island with a very relaxing resort! Perfect spot to take it easy for a few days.
The food was good, the staff was friendly and the swimming pool was perfect to cool down.

We visited Ko Trong during our 2 night stay in "average" Kratie. The boat from Kratie leaves I think when it feels like it-there seems to be no schedule. You buy tickets on board for 1,000 Riel per person, per journey. The crossing took us 5 minutes. As you come up the ramp to the island, there is an info centre right in front of you which rents bikes for $1 or $2 a bike. They aren't in great shape but fine for the island circuit. The path round the island is a mixture of concrete and dirt.

The island itself is interesting if not thrilling. It is extremely peaceful with the only transport consisting of bicycles, bikes or cow/ horse and cart. The people and especially the children are very sweet often waving or saying hello as you pass. The houses are in the form of traditional stilt wooden abodes and really interesting to see. Watch out for chickens, cows and dogs as you ride round! You get a few good viewing points of the Mekong's east and west banks from the island.

Overall, it is probably worth a visit if you have a spare couple of hours, but I wouldn't rush back.
