Owner description: Exbury's beautiful woodland gardens cover 200 acres and is a jewel in the heart of the New Forest National Park. Primroses, daffodils, camellias and magnolias ensure early spring colour before bluebells, rhododendrons and azaleas burst into bloom. The spectacle of the Azalea Bowl is not to be missed in May. The summer months bring shady riverside walks and perfect picnic spots next to ponds with carp and dragonflies. Hydrangeas are at their peak and showpiece exotics heat up the Herbaceous Borders and Sundial Garden. Autumn arrives in a blaze of colour with waterside maples, sweet gums, dogwoods and acers. Exbury also has a 12¼ inch gauge Steam Railway which delights visitors of all ages and the 20 minute journey passes by the fabulous Rock and Summer Lane Gardens. Children will love the play area, discovery trails, scavenger hunts, bug hunting and special events that run throughout the year. The Tea Room offers a delicious hot and cold seasonal menu, afternoon tea and more.

I was looking for somewhere to go and take some photographs, Exbury Gardens is always high on the list, the gardens change sooooo much throughout the seasons and there's always something new to see. I spent a glorious 5 hours wandering around on Sunday, taking photos along the way and just relaxing, stopping for a couple of cups of coffee and a slice of cake.

A lovely day out with very well kept gardens with lots of variety from formal, rock gardens, woods, lakes, river walk and I could go on. The pathways are very easy under foot so not a problem if you were that bit older or unsteady but we were dragged around by an extremely happy cocker spaniel. We loved seeing the steam train but didn't go on as happy to walk with the dog.
Had tea and a sandwich at the cafe half way around (not the main cafe) and the lady was very friendly and it was a pleasant sit down.
This is a great place to come and spend a whole day just soaking up the outdoors.
Price wise we used a gardeners world 2 for 1 so a bargain.

Loved this garden. I have limited energy for walking so we paid £4.50 to go on the buggy ride which was well worth the money. Stories about the garden, info about the plants etc. We got to see far more of the garden than even my more energetic friend would have walked around in a couple of hours (the time we had to spend there). We went on the steam train which was fun, though it only covers a smaller bit of the garden, but we loved the experience anyway. The cafe was fine but very busy and having to negotiate around the gift shop with trays etc wasn't perhaps the best idea or use of space. But thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Perhaps not the cheapest for a family visiting but for garden lovers it's great.

We spent a delightful morning here, enjoying a walk round the gardens, and a ride on the steam train, which was excellent. Probably better in season when the Azeleas are in flower!

Average entrance fee, train ride available of which you pay on entrance. Good cafe, with a nice selection for all tastes, though abit pricey. Good gift shop and gallery. We went late season so the colour from the plants had gone, but that didnt put us off. Enchanting pathways to beautiful areas with viewing points. Direction and information signs are easy to read. Wheelchair access for gardens and train. Great for kids.
