“Rating is totally 6 star! everything thought of for great relaxing escape”
Reviewed July 8, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

The standards at Argil Cottage are 6 star! Kathy, the owner has thought of everything to make it a totally relaxing escape. Peaceful situation overlooking horses in a field, central for the East Coast, Helmsley and some superb eating places at proper country pubs!
Her design ideas make it a designer cottage one dreams about.Great comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen with Smeg accessories. Even fresh eggs and treats waiting on arrival!

“This cottage is perfect.”
Reviewed August 18, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Everything about this cottage is perfect. Kathy, the owner has thought of everything that will make your stay feel like home from home. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and is in a lovely little hamlet which is situated ideally for getting to the North Yorkshire coast or inland to the moors. Although we didn't get to meet the owner we did talk to her on the phone and she obviously cares that you have everything you need. Myself, my wife and our two boys had a fantastic week and would definately come back again.

“Can't stop raving about it to friends and rellys!”
Reviewed January 3, 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Suited us perfectly for a Christmas with the family who live a couple of villages away (5 mins by car) - love 'em BUT the joy of having our own escape place over the festive mad period was lovely! Close enough to all the best places on the edge of the moors and masses of brochures and recommendations for local attractions waiting at the cottage. A big thank you for leaving a list of the local Church services for over the Christmas period - very thoughtful.
Immaculate cottage, exceptionally furnished and decorated and loads of "little touches" - pots of cotton buds; a pencil sharpener; pad & pen; roll of cotton and needle - all the daft things you just sort of need on holiday. Plenty of cleaning stuff around too - there for a full week, I like to keep my own home standards and it can be very frustrating arriving at a holiday property and immediately having to do a supermarket shop for loo cleaner & washing up sponges etc! Such a lovely view and thoroughly enjoyed the company and antics of the horses in the field backing on to the rear courtyard. Had a couple of friends come and join us for a night between Xmas and New Year and I found myself "bragging" about how beautiful and comfy the cottage was - as if it was mine! Will be back - definitely!

“A wonderful home in a great location.”
Reviewed August 28, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We (a family of five) stayed a week at Argil Cottage and had a wonderful time. It’s really well located with a variety of activities nearby. We have young children and there was so much nearby to keep them entertained; however, this cottage would be equally well suited to groups with no children who want to go sightseeing, or explore the countryside or nearby Harrogate and York. Both Whitby and Scarborough are less than an hour away too, not to mention the North York Moors which are stunning.

The cottage itself is really well set up. It’s got everything you could need to really make the most of your stay, and the courtyard is secure with nice views - if we’d have had time we’d have made use of the barbecue that the cottage has! But as it was, we were often really tired after packing so much into our days out and the cottage was the perfect place to relax in. The furnishings and beds are really comfortable and it’s really nicely decorated -the owner Kathy has a great eye for detail. Everything about the way the cottage has been equipped for your stay is thoughtful - we wanted for nothing. In fact, the owner goes above and beyond - we were really touched to arrive at Argil Cottage to free range eggs (delicious), local fudge, homemade biscuits and freshly picked wildflowers. Kathy obviously takes such pride in her vocation.

The cottage strikes just the right balance between being a home away from home, with all the amenities of home (washing machine, dishwasher, hairdryer, ironing stuff and a hoover) and being a bit special (wonderfully soft bedding, the fluffiest towels and nice touches such as complimentary soaps etc.) We couldn’t have asked for more from our stay at Argil Cottage!

“A wonderful place to stay”
Reviewed August 17, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Argil Cottage. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated and provides a welcoming and homely feel. The location of the cottage is also good; there are so many places to visit in the local area that you really don't have to travel far, unless you really want to. As well as providing a lovely welcome pack, Kathy also recommends different places to eat. You will be spoilt for choice, but again, the cottage is well-equipped if you want to stay in and cook for yourself. Everywhere is also meticulously clean. Argil Cottage really does come highly recommended. PS The timely addition of internet access was much appreciated!

“Superb cottage- the perfect base for a relaxing family holiday”
Reviewed July 29, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We are a family of five (three young children of 5,3 &1) and we have just spent the most amazing week at ARGIL cottage. The house was everything we hoped it would be. The kids have been so excited to return here each evening after busy days exploring the area and my husband and I have felt truly relaxed in this lovely home.
ARGIL cottage is a sunny, happy house. It is well decorated and furnished and lovingly maintained. Everything in the house works just as it should and the accommodation is really well proportioned. The little courtyard at the back of the property provided a safe place for the kids to potter. It was great to have the garage to pop scooters and the kids bikes into when we didn't want a full car boot! A quality travel cot, highchair and stair gate ensured our youngest child was safe and happy too.
Kathy has been a pleasure to deal with. Her communication has been superb from initial contact through to communication during the week of our holiday. You can tell it is really important to her that all her guests have a great stay.
There is so much to do in this area. Highlights of our week include a visit to Castle Howard, a day at the Ryedale show (what a great experience) and a full day at Flamingo Land, The village pub, the Golden Lion, is a few doors down the road provides a warm welcome and serves good food.

“Wonderful Cottage in superb area”
Reviewed July 20, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Having spent many hours looking for a holiday cottage in Yorkshire I happened upon Argil Cottage and I'm so pleased I did. It is truly a wonderful place, a real home from home that has been beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need. Our young daughter loved the single room and the benefit of having a separate dining room and sitting room (both a great size - this is no pokey new build!) meant she had her own play area. The kitchen has lovely utensils and cooking materials and a dishwasher is always welcome! The view from the kitchen and back yard across rolling fields to hills was beautiful and, whilst the village only has a family friendly pub, the serenity of being in the country was great. Kathy, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and left some lovely touches to welcome us (I won't spoil the surprises!) and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful from booking to staying.
Quite probably the best holiday cottage we've ever stopped in, terrific value for money, great location to all sorts of attractions and beaches - our week away flew by. I can't recommend this place highly enough - you won't be disappointed!

I delight in preparing the cottage and, of course, it feels wonderful to receive such kind comments . Do come and visit again some time, it would be great to welcome you back.

Kind regards,
Kathy
