This is one of the place that we visit in our Myanmar’s trip. We drive around 6 hours from Yangon to Kyaiktiyo. Visitors have to take truck to reach the top of the mountain. Seats are not so comfortable but we felt excited with the driver’s driving skill because it felt like we were in a roller coaster. We can choose to change to cable car in the middle of the mountain. We overnight at the bottom of the mountain. Visitors can bring some snacks for donation to the monks. You can see monks ask for donation of foods in the early of the morning, around 7am.

Kyaiktiyo pagoda known as Golden Rock is one the sacred place for Buddhist people living in Myanmar or other Buddhist countries .
. To travel to KyiteHteeYoe pagoda, it will take a 4-hour drive from Yangon, where it will proceed in an open truck uphill to hermit hill. The rock and the pagoda are at the top of Mt. Kyaiktiyo.

It is the third most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma after the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Mahamuni Pagoda. A glimpse of the “gravity defying” Golden Rock is believed to be enough of an inspiration for any person to turn to Buddhism.

It is the best place for those who would like to have a legendary pilgrimage because the Golden Rock itself is placed on top of the mountain and visitors can choose whether to take a bus to go to the top of the mountain or trekking up to the mountain which will take around 5 hours while being able to enjoy various legendary milestones along the way making to the top of the mountain.

If overweight or unfit, don't try it, as it starts with an open truck ride with 50 people jammed in for the rollercoaster up 3000 feet to the top, and then a steady walk for 30 minutes through the village to the Rock and pagoda.(Porters will carry you the last part!!)
But it is a fascinating place, with village life around, and this big granite boulder , now covered in gold paper, teetering on the cliff edge, and then on to the pagoda.
The Eternity Resort Hotel at the base is budget and good, rather than race from Yangon in a day
