“Hebridean heaven”
Reviewed September 3, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Fabulous holiday place. The house is cosy and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need, including what must be the best views in the Outer Hebrides from the wonderful sunroom., where we spent a lot of time marvelling at the scenery come rain or shine. We found that although we'd travelled a long way to get there, the local area was so beautiful, with a range of stunning beaches to explore, that we didn't need to go far during our stay. The ultimate chill out, we shall be back to Airebroc!

“Wonderful place, Wonderful owners.”
Reviewed July 30, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Airebroc was all we had hoped for, and more. (We were two familes of 4 with teenage children.) There was a real sense that the Watsons wanted to share their holiday home with us - everything was generous - beautiful bedding and towels, lots of supplies of things (like loo rolls!), even the offer of borrowing their wellies if we needed them! A welcome food basket, the friendly, helpful information pack, the local Co-op delivering and putting away our food order ready for our arrival - everything felt warm and welcoming. We slept the 8 family members over 5 rooms (the study has a sofa bed) and it all felt like plenty of space, especially having the lounge as well as the sunroom to relax in. Lots of hot water and good central heating. Sitting in the sunroom watching the tide come in and out or reading and playing games, wandering across the beach and swimming in the river, taking walks to the nearby coves, it was all so lovely we had to make ourselves get the car out to bother going anywhere else. It was a tiny bit of a squash getting everyone around the table for meals but there was plenty of crockery, etc, a big fridge and cooker, so it really didn't matter. We had good weather but the house is so lovely it wouldn't have mattered if it had rained. The local shop was well stocked, having everything we wanted - no need to take food with you. The downstairs single room is a little bit removed from the other bedrooms, I think a young child could feel a little bit isolated but our oldest teenager loved being a bit separate! Would I go back tomorrow? Yes, Yes, Yes!

“Everything we had hoped for and more”
Reviewed July 11, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My husband and I and our daughter and her boyfriend spent a memorable week in Airebroc, and all wished we could have stayed another two weeks. The house overlooks an estuary and Hebridean landscape changing constantly with the tides and weather, all viewed from the relaxing comfort of the sun room in the front of the house. The bedrooms are lovely and the 'farmhouse style' kitchen wonderful to cook and eat in, and many excellent meals were cooked for us by our daughter's boyfriend, who to our great benefit is a chef. We dined heartily on local fare like Stornoway black pudding, scallops, lobster, pollock, beef and seatrout. And many walks were taken to the nearby lochs in pursuit of trout, to fish in the sea and search for cockles along the estuary at low tide.

The owners were very helpful indeed and also telephoned to inform us when an Aurora Borealis was expected in the area. We arrived to a complimentary bottle of New Zealand wine, a bottle of chutney, salad greens and fresh flowers on the kitchen table.

Quite honestly, I could stay in a house like Airebroc for several months to paint and write.

“Beautiful house, wonderful views lovely walks on the beaches watching the Golden Eagle - perfect!”
Reviewed April 17, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We stayed at Airebroc as a large family group for a week in March. The house is perched on the side of the hill that slopes down to Uig Beach. It is the most beautiful, restful and inspiring of places. The views over the bay from the sun-room are magical and with Lewis's ever changing weather they are different every time you look out. The house is perfectly positioned for long walks on the beaches, round the coast and across the moors. It is well equipped with everything you could want, and full of charm and character. It is impossible to say anything negative about the place. A real highlight was the Golden Eagle that appears to live somewhere up in the moors behind the house we saw him most days - an awe inspiring bird. All in all the perfect base for a wonderful island holiday. I can't recommend it highly enough!

“Dream stay”
Reviewed October 14, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Airebroc is the most beautiful place to stay. One side of the house looks over the bay so you can watch the tides sweeping in and out and the clouds come and go over the mountains. The other has views out across to sea over the hillside. The house is gorgeously decorated, with a light airy feel, and still wonderfully cosy. The kitchen is generous and homely, the living room perfect for curling up in with a fire going, the (many!) beds large and comfy, and we loved the sunroom for coffee and games or reading in the morning- or just gazing out dreamily at the view! From the house it is only a short scramble to the loveliest of beaches. We were warmly welcomed with local veg and wine on arrival, and had the kindest communication with the hosts.

Everything about this stay delighted us.

“One of our best holidays ever!”
Reviewed September 16, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

This lovely house, about 40 minutes from the main Tarbert/Stornaway road, provided the perfect base for our exploration of this part of the island. The area is stunning - albeit our view is probably a little biased as we also had pretty good weather. On arrival we found freshly picked flowers and salad ingredients waiting for us which was a lovely touch. The house is well equipped, and well furnished - it is a home with character rather than a sterile impersonal holiday let, and to us it felt welcoming and comfortable, and we had good chats with the neighbours!. The three double beds were all good, but the one of the three singles is really only suitable for children. We did miss our superking bed, and needed to use one of the front rooms as a twin. Having four toilets in the house is a real treat when you have adult groups. The sun room is such a bonus on grey/wet days - there is always something to watch as the wind/water/clouds/birds move about.
The house notes provided were comprehensive, and we made a point of using the Community Shop, which is well equipped, with fresh meat and veg and store cupboard ingredients. We also loved the Passion Cake at the local community centre/museum, and the chance to talk to local people there. Needless to say the referendum always featured. There are useful tips about walks etc at the house - and purchasing an Ordnance Survey map of the area is a must, as is a camera and a good pair of binoculars.
Communication with the owners is good, and the one small problem we did have was swiftly remedied.

“Superb House in Unrivalled Location”
Reviewed September 2, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Airebroc is a stunning property overlooking Uig Sands and the Uig Hills. At night the stars are incredible. By day all you can hear is bird song and Raven calls. The property is really spacious. The sun room is exceptional. You can spend all day indoors if you really wanted! All the bedrooms are great - one double, one single, and two double + single. I highly recommend this house to everyone.
