Although we didn't stay at the hotel, we visited for coffee and pastries, this was part of a coach trip and we were brought here for a good reason.

The hotel is located very close to the top of the steepest road in Norway, a switchback road with 21 hairpin bends, the hotel overlooks the valley and surrounding mountain peaks, one of the most stunning indoor views in Norway.

The hotel is famous for it's artist visitors, many famous paintings have been painted or inspired by the place, it is easy to see why.

The hotel has it's own museum and gift shop, the quality of both are pretty impressive for a hotel.

If you are looking for somewhere relaxing with stunning scenery, this is the place to go.

The biggest advantage of this hotel is, undoubtedly, its location. The service is friendly, and the breakfast was satisfied. Rooms are old but rather OK, and have heating, including bathroom floor. WiFi is not an option inside the rooms and it's a minus, but you can surf, free of charge, in the spacious lobby of the hotel.

Hotel is around 1000 meters (up a hill) from the main road E16. It is worth to know, for those who arrive by public transportation, that there is a bus service which arrives few times a day up to the bus stop located in front of the hotel. Alternatively, you can try to call the reception and they will collect you from the bus stop on the main road E16.

There is no TV in the rooms, but I didn't felt the absence of it while overlooking the spectacular view from the big window in the room.

Do not be intimidated with the cold water in the bathroom - Leave the valve open for a few good long minutes, and the hot water will eventually come.

Stay in this hotel should be in rooms facing the Naeroy valley. Stay in any other room is similar to reaching a well after a strenuous walk without drinking from its water....

Around the hotel are several different hiking trails with magnificent scenic views (for example, the Nali road). It is worth to consult the helpful staff, which can also provide some local maps and other information.

We stayed for three nights and the place was absolutely gorgeous. You couldnt get a better view - our room looked down the valley. The service and staff were excellent. Meals were buffet style and gave you plenty of choice. Wi-fi was available although only in the public areas. Rooms were basic but comfortable.
Ask the management to show you around the folk museum they have a good way of explaining the history of the place.

This hotel is perched on a cliff, with a view straight down a valley of mountains. It was truly incredible. It was very quiet there. Peaceful and pure. The air was clean, the setting was magnificent. The sleeping rooms are small, but somehow, with the view outside, it does not seem to matter. The dining room served traditional, delicious Norwegian fare. Our room had the valley view. I do not believe there could be a more beautiful place on this Earth.

As a note- Norway does not seem to have the equivalent of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which guarantees access to disabled people in public buildings. Most of the buildings in Norway are very old, and they have several steps and uneven areas in the floors and in the hotel rooms. Older travellers- be vigilant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view down the valley. I don't know what this would cost since we were travelling on a group tour package with an all-inclusive price.

Excellent view from the hotel. Gave you the sense of Norway.
Nice large lobby with free internet.
Great restaurant for dinner and lobby
Unfortunately a very basic room, but I believe the hotel concept
like their guest enjoying the view, surrounding and club style lobby.
