We've just come back from staying here for a long weekend. It is a beautiful house in a very secluded spot. Lots of space. Good cooking facilities. Well heated.

Great fun out door hot tub.

As well as the usual things you mig take on a self catering take your own fire starters! Plenty logs but needed kindeling or fire salters to get it going.

Returned from a great mid week break to Culsmill Cottage. Accommodation was beautiful, well maintained and had everything you could hope for and more. The hot tub was again a big hit and as has been mentioned before there is nothing quite like watching the stars, sipping champagne and relaxing in a hot tub !
We have been before a few years ago and had fallen fowl of the housekeeper who was concerned re a dirty mark on the white cover of the bed - mentioned to us before a planned next stay ! We ignored this and went anyway but it kind of soured it for us and we didn't return for a couple of years. We decided to brave it again and am glad we did. Denise is very helpful to deal with but I think they need to give just a little bit of thought to the overall customer experience. There is a folder full of rules - fair enough up to a point but it does leave you feeling a little as if they are doing you a massive favor letting you stay there!
Still if you look past that the cottage and the area are fantastic and we are back relaxed, happy and planning an other trip.

This was a lovely break away, the hot tub at night was amazing. The location was lovely, as was the beautiful little cottage called the Ralston Bothy. The local sights were great, as this was our first trip away as a couple we will always have fond memories of this place. The value of the stay was also excellent, Denise was a pleasure to deal with.

However, we did experience a problem with the cottage boiler, and it was the estate response to our problem which soured our stay. The housekeeper woman (her name evade me) was very rude, and had a terrible attitude. The boiler problem was never really properly fixed, and she stormed in to the cottage laying the blame on us. It really did leave a sour note. Other than that episode, the stay was lovely, but be aware that poor customer service could be a problem if any problems (eg boiler malfunction) do arise.

Booked the 2 houses at east and west Newbiggings to celebrate a silver wedding with extended family. On arrival, we noticed the dishwasher in one of the houses had a sign stuck on it saying it wasn't working and it would be replaced during the week we were there (no apology offered). The dishwasher was replaced on the day we left. It was a bit of a bind that it wasn't there as a dishwasher is quite important to us but didn't want to make a fuss. We had a very enjoyable time and the accommodation was clean and comfortable (though the master bedroom en-suite only has a hand held shower which is not ideal). However, the week after we left we received a phone call asking how flakes of paint were on found on the floor of the master bedroom. I explained that I had left the bedroom window open on our last night and as it was very windy the paint which was flaking off the window frame had been blown in. We then received a letter from them informing us that we were being charged for damage to the fire guard and cushion in one house. We strongly refuted that we had damaged the items and told them that they were already damaged on our arrival. My brother-in-law had picked up the fire guard to set the fire and it fell apart as he did so! The cushion had a zip that was damaged which we noticed on the evening we arrived, we managed to fix it only for it burst open again. We left the pieces of fire guard on the mantle piece and cushion on the chair so staff would realise they were damaged. (we didn't report the damage at the time as the housekeeper was on holiday while we were there). We responded with a phone call and email, explaining what had happened and also brought up the broken dishwasher (the response to which was 'you should have got the men to do the washing up') Subsequently we received another letter from the estate manager telling us that his housekeeper is very diligent and it was our word against hers. We are sorry but we are all human and capable of making mistakes which she has done in this case. We feel the whole matter was dealt with in a very unprofessional manner and are aggrieved to have been accused of something we didn't do. My advice to anyone using this accommodation would be to check everything very carefully and report anything broken immediately (though if management are so convinced that the housekeeper is incapable of making a mistake, not sure that there would be much point in this!) The letter we received from the estate manager made no mention of the broken dishwasher, and we never had an apology for the inconvenience it caused us, though they have not charged us for the damage we were supposed to have caused.
To finish the houses are really nice, hot tubs great, the surrounding area lovely for walking and cycling (the local butcher is fantastic!), but take care when you arrive and check everything!

We stayed at CLUSHMILL COTTAGE on the Kinpurnie estate 3 glorious bedrooms and 2 en suite bathrooms and 1 family bathroom. Lovely big well equipped kitchen with everything you need at hand well heated and maintained cottage decor finished to a high standard.
The hot tub was fantastic sitting watching the stars on a cold winter night just chilling out it was breathtaking.
Will most definitely be visiting here again. Another added bonus no mobile phone signals pure bliss. There is a land line in-case of emergencys ,
