We booked a room at the Longhorn Saloon for two reasons: being Canadian, we know the company that built it and wanted to see it in person after watching the TV show about the build, and being Top Gear fans, we thought it would be neat to meet Sabine Schmitz. We weren't disappointed on either count - the building is gorgeous, and Sabine was kind enough to pose for a photo. That being said, it was Tarryn's service that will bring us back. She stayed in close communication with us before our arrival, let us keep our beer in the bar fridge, did a bunch of laundry for us at a reasonable price (laundry isn't a normal service, but we were desperate after everything we owned got soaked at a festival), and she cooks a mean breakfast.
The hotel is in a quiet location with a beautiful view. It's not remote, exactly, but the primary attractions of the area aren't within walking distance. The Nurburgring is a little over 5km away, for example, and there are only a couple of restaurants you can get to without driving. So if you're staying here, a car is in order, or you might find yourself a little too isolated. But it's still a lovely place to base your stay.More
