First time in Maldives, the boat ride to the island from the airport was the longest boat ride I've ever been on, probably because I wanted so much to get to Fun Island. My gf and I finally got there, were greeted with cold towels to freshen up, a few minutes later we were shown our room. Had enough, huge bathroom, perfect for a couple. Breakfast was really good, eat all you can while you can, so you could save up on buying lunch and dinner which was a bit more expensive. Only problem with that you had to be up in time for breakfast. The food was good overall, the staff friendly, they may not speak english well but they try very much to communicate with you. The beaches were not the best, a lot of sea weed, probably the season...but that doesn't matter if you've got good company. Lot's of Italians around too. Sunsets were amazing too.
Good snorkelling area, baby sharks were however present but didn't stop anyone :) They had a lot of water gear but at a huge cost, wasn't worth it for me. Then we got the massage, by far the most impressive thing here, they had girls from Malaysia who actually knew what they were doing. It was a great experience and good for money too if you are a budget traveller.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the power station/unit.

Upon arrival we were escorted and a staff with cold towels greeted us by the end of the arrival pier.Welcome drinks were served ,pleasant atmosphere at the front desk.Staffs performance were okay ,and quite helpful, adequate skill of English language.
Return Speedboat transfer to Fun Island from Hulhule , is one of the most affordable ,$ 120 per adult return trip .
Bodu Finolhu island size was quite big compared to 2 other resort we stayed at , the Fihalhohi and Biyadhoo.
Stunning view of the white sandy beach and the greenish plantation on the island added its beauty.
The best spot to snorkel is near the arrival pier ,we managed to see an Octopus , and a reef shark about 80 cm long !
Food was quite ok , tried the buffet ,and the beach bar Envashi, food prices were quite affordable ,and the serving time was still acceptable.
Fun island organized Dive trips, Snorkeling trips , Local island Excursion ,Night Fishing ,Big Game Fishing and many more , with an acceptable fee.
Prices at the watersport center are a bit pricey , better bring your own snorkeling gear , fins ,masks and life jackets .We hired a life jacket for 3 hours , costs us $ 9 + 10 % S/C and 8 % GST !This watersport center have a complete line of motorized and non motorized watersports equipment like the Jetski, Catamaran ,Kayaks etc.
The souvenir shop in Fun Island Resort is one of the best , and the price was reasonable compared to other islands, or at the airport. We bought some Tshirts for about $ 18-20 a piece ,later we observed that the same piece was priced about $ 30 at the airport !
At the shallow waters near the beach ,some Heron birds and many baby black tip sharks swimmed gracefully.
Overall ,despite there's a lot of negative reviews ,we still like this place ,and well, its considerably affordable, you get what you paid for.

Room Tip: Deluxe beach front bungalows , might be the best choice here

Lovely beach, awesome snorkeling area, friendly staff, great food, fruit and sweets. During the rain season the weather was a bit cloudy, but still very hot and water was perfect. Nice trips every day, some prices are little higher but still manageable. For this price do not expect golden door knobs and personal slave. Peaceful island, very natural, cosy rooms, beach and area cleaned everyday. Definitely visit Araamu Spa :) Worth every penny. Perfect place for honeymooners :) Sudhar, if you read it: Chu chu! :D

Stayed here for three days, and it was the worst experience ever. Wont be visitng Maldives again thanks for the dreadful hotel expericne. Rude customer service in Cafe, cold and bland food.To begin with the standard rooms - look more like labor accomodations. Deluxe Rooms are okay but for the price you are paying you could do better in another hotel. The water sports - staff were rude, so its best to bring your own gear. Do not rent from water sports - its a rip off.

Room Tip: Try some other hotel

This resort provide the worse service I can't even image, staff seems more enjoy talking to themselves than customers.
Booking office staff don't know the room rate, can change the price 3 times in few hours. Even the bill is not the same amount, blame to computer system or try to find thousands of excuse, no honest and service at all.
Front desk staff will walk pass or answer a person phone call when you are talking to them.
Room is old and shower tap is broken, fail down when you try to have a shower.
Food are terrible, hot food is cold, cold food is warm.
Dive center is rude when they know you are not going to do and dive with them.
I have to warm you if you want to waste your money and time. go there.

Room Tip: DO NOT GO, DO NOT GO, DO NOT GO, DO NOT GO, DO NOT GO, DO NOT GO, rooms are bad, bring your own wat...

The location is extremely beautiful, the place is divinely peaceful.
But the staff make sure you hate it here , Electricity is a major issue. Bang in the middle of afternoon there are power cuts. and the Reception just makes one stupid "Maintainence issue" excuse.
The food is good though.
The rooms need some renovation.
Staff needs to learn some basic english, as it causes inconvenience trying to explain someone who doesnt understand even basic english.

It’s more like a 4* without a pool. The hotel was at full capacity and so we were delighted to be upgraded at no extra cost on arrival.
The house reef snorkelling is excellent off the end of the peer, the best we’ve experienced. There’s patchy sea weed in the reek lagoon but it’s not long, more like underwater grass supporting the fish. The best beach is North of the island opposite the associated Robinson Crusoe (RC) island. Despite being full, Fun Island is big enough not to feel crowded and we enjoyed a free morning short trip to RC island to get further away from it all.
Watching the manta rays feeding off the end of the peer after dark was brilliant.
Wifi is free and connection best in the bar where the router is located. You sometimes need to ask the barman to rest the router to be able to get connected.
None of the rooms were what I’d call “beach front”; you can’t step from room to beach. Electrics are 13A UK square pin with a universal adapter in the room. I’d suggest bring your own adaptor as the one provided in our room for the TV (2-pin continental plug) tended to spark and didn’t appear of the quality one might expect for electrical items in the UK. A kettle was provided with tea and coffee sachets and 2x 500ml bottles of water daily in the room. TV had 4 channels with little of interest; the news channel was far East focused (eg. even though MH370 search was big news in UK at the time, it wasn’t mentioned).
Plenty of tea, coffee and squash (juice at breakfast) were available free with every meal , so you can keep well hydrated without recourse to the bar, if you wish. No need to stock up with water on arrival at the airport (as recommended elsewhere) because it’s cheaper in the hotel if you need extra.
The self-service buffets always provided a good selection of dishes. At breakfast, eggs are cooked fresh to order and at lunch there’s an additional sandwich bar where chef will make you fresh sandwiches to order if you want something different from a hot meal or a sandwich in addition to your a salad. Sweets were excellent with fresh fruit also available.
Beer $4.50/bottle, cocktails $9-$10. All plus 10% service charge + 8% GST, so total approx. 5.50USD for a beer. Everything in the hotel is priced in USD and if you wish to settle your extras in cash, take USD. The hotel shop sold goods at reasonable prices and much cheaper than the airport so get your shirts and souvenirs in the hotel.
The hotel runs 3x boat trips a day to/from the airport in daylight hours only, so for a midnight return flight you have a long wait; we were dropped off at 5.30pm. It seems all the Maldives hotel transits are daylight only, including other islands with sea planes.

Room Tip: rooms on the north side have better lagoon area.
