“Magnificent!”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

“We love the Maldives, but this was our first time at One&Only Reethi Rah – and wow, we were impressed. We wanted to be in a resort that could give us a special experience as a couple and cater for the kids - not an easy ask but the entire family left raving about it. One of the biggest atolls in the north Maldives, there is so much to do, from lazing on the beach or in the water to exploring the surrounding atolls by boat, or even visiting a local island. Food and service were spot on, making this one of my top family stays from the past few years.”

Room Tip: We opted for a beach villa - direct beach access, private terrace and, in ours, a private pool. For...

Just had a short trip to this fine resort. We certainly will be back. The flights from UK are so convenient just an overnight trip and you arrive early in the day ready for a full day of sunshine. We really loved the restaurants and the villas are well appointed and the staff are friendly. Met their resident artist, Chris Hogan, who gave us a few tips on painting, marvelous touch we have not seen in a resort before this one, gave us another option as we were not really interested in water sports this trip. We just needed to the relax, kickback and wind-down vacation, which we are very pleased we found at this resort. Our travel agent steered us in the direction of the O&O Reethi Rah and glad that we took her advice as we had not travelled to the Maldives before this trip. Our villa host was excellent and meet our every request, he suggested dining options for us and showed us the sting rays in the lagoon. Recommend the spa treatments, they pamper pamper pamper!

Room Tip: Beach villa next time, lots of privacy

We visited One & Only Reetih Rah in february 2012. The resort is amazing and they have really put effort in every interior and exterior detail of the resort. The island is beutiful and the house, pool and beach was perfect as well. They kept the house with its sourrondings cleaned all the time during our stay.

We dined at all resturants on the resorts. The food was amazing at Fanditha and the japanease place, Tapasake. The other resturants was ok, but nothing special.

However, there was some drawbacks.

Everything is ridiculus overprized and you almost feel fooled. I don't mind paying a high price if I get value for it, put you didn't get what you paid for. Only the main restaurant served lunch and almost al courses were of lacking quality or with scanty portions. You paid 40 dollars for a club sandwich and it was basically white bread, salad and a tiny pieace of chicken.

We went for a fishing tour and it felt like the business idea was "rich people have never tried something like this so we can just send them out on a boat for an hour and make them pay for it". It was 1,5 hours boating with a stop to do some kind of fishing (it was impossible to get any fish due to the equipment on board). This for a cost of 200 dollar for two.

We visited a "Lobster and champagne buffé". The price where 250 dollars per person. It was a boring evening al though the lobster tasted great (however, not the same quality as when you ordered it at the fanditha restaurant). I got food poisoned of the buffé and spend the following 30 hours on the toilet, but no one of the personal cared about that.

The resort had done a mistake with our booking due to some miscommunication between the resort and the travel agent. The mistake was resolved after three days (!!!) and they didnt handled professional during that time and said that we after three nights in our pool villa had to move to another villa. This is not the type of stress you are looking for during a week of relaxing on the Maldives.

The summer this up. It was the most beutiful resort I have visited. However, the incidents that happen make me never wanna come back and I cannot recommend anyone to visit the place. I am sure there are other resorts who care more for their guests.

What a marvelous place. They cater to your every need. If you're looking for a vacation away from everything this is the place. No cars, no traffic. Transportation is by bicycle or golf cart. There are only villas on the island and the entire island is the resort. All beaches are deserted most of the day and guests feel like it's their own private island. The water is beautiful and the weather in February is incredible.

Room Tip: All villas on either on the water or waterfront. None have kitchen facilities but In Villa Dining i...

If you want to pamper yourself and your dear ones, this place is well worth the money. The villas are luxurious, the island is small enough not to be crowded and large enough to ride a bike (complimentary for each villa). The spa is world class, so are the three restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a water villa, it's amazing to watch the fish fro your porch. If you like sunsets, ask f...

The experiance beings the moment you exit from airport customs as we were welcomed and ushered to our yatch. We entered the resort overwhelmed by the management's warm welcome and our eagerness to look into what the resort hides from breathtaking views and possible activities.

Since we arrived early, the management were nice enough to have prearranged a temporary beach villa as our room was being prepared. A gesture, amongst many, that we surely won't forget. I appreciated that each beach villa is surrounded by a barrier of palm trees and lush plants giving us the privacy that we needed without compromising the beach view.

The staff and service were equally impressive. All our requests were mainly handled by our assigned villa manager, although I would advice prescheduling your activities before arriving to the resort. We did that along with prescheduling the services of a Nanny to look after the kids during our spa session and private dinners.

It was nice to see that the resort had a daily agenda published. I found the movie night rather cool, with bean bags and soft lighted tables on the beach while watching James Bond on the screen with popcorn and drinks being served! On another night we enjoyed live singing.

Overall I would say this is an amazing resort for both couples and families with children. We look forward to visit the resort again hopefully in the near future.

Tips:

Best spa time is between 3:30pm and 5:30pm as it gives you enough time to enjoy the sunset later
You can have the kids go to the kids club while your at the spa
If traveling with kids make sure you take them to the cup cake decoration session!
for people with sensitive skin: If your having water/sports activities scheduled after 5pm to avoid the head and direct sunlight
Would be cool if you can rent your own golf cart to move around the resort
Do try going around the Island with your bike. But it may be difficult for young kids to catch up.

Room Tip: We stayed at the sunrise side of the island away from the main restaurants. Surely there are advanta...
