We loved our "room", if I may call it that (nr 501), a spacious, well equipped house on the water, very secluded, own pool and access to the sea, down some stairs off the wraparound deck.  You can swim naked day and night, nobody can see you.  Excellent service by a butler who was always on standby (thank you Ibrahim), set up our breakfast every morning without waking us up and took care of many other things during the week we were at the house.  From the house it was a short walk to where the restaurants were on the island, or to the gym or spa.  Staff everywhere is always happy, smiling and chatty.  Spent a wonderful week here snorkeling and relaxing.  Slightly disappointed at first when we saw the view.  There is a full frontal view of what the locals call industry island, an island full of crap with some kind of a facility that billows smoke (steam?) high into the air 24h a day 7 days a week.  They don't tell you this in the advertisement and I understand why but it is a little bit "lying by omission".  We tried not to let it spoil our week and adjusted the position of the patio furniture so that we were looking in the other direction when sitting outside, but it was quite the eye sore.  Be aware of the 270 US dollars they add to your bill in the end, for taking you from the airport to the hotel and back at the end of your stay.  It is sort of not mentioned so you may be forgiven to think that the speedboat ride is included in the (quite massive) room 501 rate.  We personally found that the daily Indulgence supplement was not worth the bother as you would have to eat and drink a la carte quite a lot to spend the same amount.  You can start out with pay as you consume and keep an eye on your spending, then choose the Indulgence package if it works out better. SO all in all great stay in a beautiful facility, shame about the factory view.

Last minute, we decided to book an hôtel in Maldives. We booked a plan with Emirates and they recommended Velassaru Hotel not far from the airport.This place is a dream. The staff was thoughtful. We came with our daughter (21 months old) as a gesture they gave to her everything as complimentary. The spa was really relaxing, the facilities are perfectly designed and cleaned. The room beautiful.
Their restaurants very tasty. Every day new varieties of food during the breakfast.
From A to Z it was awesome. I hope we will come back.

We just returned from a wonderful 10 day holiday. Everything about Velassaru is unbelievable. From the moment you are met at the airport to the tearful moment you are escorted from their pier to return home you are treated like family. All of the employees acknowledge everyone in passing. Every employee is not just happy to, but eager to assist in any request. They know more about your name, room number and dates of your visit than you do. From property management to cleaning you’ll never meet nicer, more caring employees. We thank everyone there for making our vacation a trip of a lifetime. From breakfast to dinner the food is amazing. We would visit both bars during the day and the service was unbelievable. They would call you by name and remember what you were drinking. The Chill bar is where to visit for unbelievable sunsets. It’s open from 1230 until dusk. The Fen bar is open from 10a until last drink. The evening entertainment is good. A few movie nights each week and some local bands help fill in the after dinner time. A special shout out to M & S for their special gift that made our visit even more memorable. Also, thanks to the Immersion hosts. It was not only an amazing trip, but we felt like we made some amazing friends as well. Until next time,
