We’ve just returned from Medhufushi this morning having spent a fabulous week there.
The seaplane transfer was fantastic although a bit chaotic at Male airport as there was no-one there to meet us, but once we got sorted it all went well, a great experience.
The welcome to the island was fab, and they quickly got us into our water villa.
The villa was great, but could do with a coat of paint internally and the decking needs stained.
The facilities were great, but especially good for just relaxing.
Food was great with an amazing selection available every day.
The staff were great, and perhaps have now learned that tipping can be expected rather than a few people have said in older reviews that they don’t expect a tip, that’s changed I felt. But they have a few exceptional people who really did deserve a tip.
Some of the villas have been re- roofed but others including the reception building are in an awful state and spoil the overall look of the place.
Decking to the pool and bar areas are all in need is staining and the a la carte restaurant wasn’t open at all.
Service in the bar was abysmal with waiters just wandering around aimlessly. Much better to wait TIL lunch or dinner and get a drink from the waiter.
The tide does ebb and flow considerably and there are some really strong currents so beware as you go snorkelling.
They have a strange tradition of feeding the stingrays each night at 7pm by the bar. Stingrays I’m fine with but they now have sharks which are approx 6/7 feet long and the are encouraging them to stay in close for feeding. We saw 2 or3 of these biggies around our water villa more than once. I wouldn’t have fancied coming nose to nose with him!!
Seaplane return was fab, it must be the best view ever from a departure lounge waiting for the seaplane.
All in all a fab place and an excellent holiday but a few concerns that it could loose its appeal if it’s not spruced up asap.
I’ve attached a few pictures.
