“Beautiful house reef. Truly paradise on earth!”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

Out butler Adam & Barrat are helpful, kind, knowledgeable & informative. They helped to solved our problems and our request was responded promptly. We booked 5 water villas with all-inclusive package with free flow of wines, juices etc. Fine dining menu was fair. Water sports are great. Overall excellent stay here. Oh ya! Thank you chef for the yummy cake for the birthday celebration of our dear friend. Despite all the great memories, we had one unpleasant one. The waiters there like to take picture with the lady guests, please watch out their hand position. One of the staff who took picture with my friend where his hand positioned somewhere he shouldn't be. We made a complaint to the resort manager and he apologized for the inconvenience caused. However I think the waiter should came to apologize to my friend and he should be terminate of work immediately. As a reputable chain resorts, identifying a qualified employee's performance, behavior is the prime concern.

We couldn't wait to return to this hotel. If somebody is looking for the paradise - it is right there. If once would look for one word to describe the hotel - tranquility - could be used. But also excellence, prestige, paradise coud fit. :-)

The hotel is small what allows to keep it all quite, peaceful and calm. The villas are designed to protect your privacy. Each tarrace and jacuzzi on it is placed in such a way that no other guest from other villas can spot you. You can shower off the salt water just on the tarrace as you claimb the stairs going straight from water and a very rich house reef in it. Wifi in every room.

The service is so great. Everybody so professional, kind, quick, and smling. Your own butler (Adam! thank you) takes care of everytihng. Our waiter - Pasindu - deserves a v big thank you. But also the barman and other guys were so great. Additional thanks to Ms. Suba and her colleques.

Spa on the beach is so great. And the restaurant with the new chef is so big plus! On an island where it is so difficult to bring in anything, they have everyting fresh and so tasty. Not so many "continental" restaurants can be applauded so much as this restaurant. Bravo!

The house reef deserves a separate note. So many hotels can only say that they have a great lagoon or they organise snoorkeling trips. Here you have your own house reef 10 stairs down from your own room. It is alive, colorful and full of fish. We saw tons of different fish, turtles, octopuses, mantas, morays, lieonfish etc. No other place has anything similar to it. Hope it can be preserved in such a state for as long as possible.

Definitely a place we want to keep returning to. Our son said next time he want to stay there for one bilion days. :-)

We decided to upgrade to the water villas for a couple of nights whilst we stayed in the Beach Villas in Meedhuppra. The water villas really are something else and the setting is amazing. The drop off is only metres from your water villa and you can see all kinds of fish just by standing on your decking.
There was a family of 4 sharks that seemed to bask under the water villa restaurant, lovely to watch and snorkel with.
You get your own Butler which I don't think is necessary however he was lovely and greeted us with a nice bottle of cold champagne and a fruit basket when we arrived which is made it feel very special and went though everything with us
The fine dining food experience was really nice along with the wine and the cocktails. This is one of the main reasons we upgraded as the food in Meedhuppra was mostly luke warm, I hated the school dinners effect and the cocktails were terrible .The staff were really friendly

Now for the negatives.

One main reason we wanted to upgrade was to experience the fine dining and drink nice wine. I checked with the relations rep that bottles of wine were included on the All Inclusive package to which she responded they were apart from champagne and Vintage. So we were looking forward to getting a nice bottle of wine and taking it back to the water villa decking. This was a lie. The bottle of wines are not included. However I did complain to the manager and he did organise a bottle of wine to the room which was a lovely touch. The water villas were sold to us by being advised if you want anything you just need to ask. Apparently someone asked for fireworks and that’s what they got (or some form of lighting instead) We asked for some nuts/crisps with our drinks. This wasn't possible. We asked for just a lunch menu but were told you would have to order this from the room and pay for it.
The mini bar consists of 4 cans of lion beer. (along with some soft drinks) There are no other alcoholic beverages. We asked if we could have some miniature shots/wine instead of the beer but was told this wasn't possible either
If you rang your butler to get you a drink this comes at a cost. So if you were by the pool or your decking and wanted a drink you had to go and get it yourself otherwise you would have to pay.
This is ridiculous. This is supposed to be 5 star.
The service is slow at times, mainly in the day. Sometimes we waited over 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared from the table and they were not on top of the drinks which you would expect from 5 star
The breakfast was cold on both occasions and the omelettes not a patch on what we had been eating in Meedhuppra.

On the day of check out you have to be out of your room for 12pm. We were spending our last night back in the beach bungalow. However we were told our room wasn't ready. Our room that we had already paid for had been given to someone else. So not only had we paid for 2 nights in a beach bungalow along with 2 nights in a water villa, we didn't have a room to go to for a couple of hours. This is a con. In hind site we should have insisted on keeping our beach bungalow as we had already paid for it. We spoke to the manager who said we could use the facilities. So basically sit in the bar and wait. You should not be expected to leave your water villa room until your beach bungalow was ready. The manager wasn't interested and just repeated that we need to be out of the room at 12 and basically that's it. We got lunch offered to us.

We witnessed a lot of this in the 2 days we were there. Guests hanging around waiting for rooms to be ready. We noticed one couple had been waiting for approx 4 hours. A lot of the guests were Chinese. They must be a hell of a lot more laid back than myself.

I agree with another comment made by someone else that this is 4 star with 4 star service and the island should be a 3 star.

However we had a fantastic time and the sea and sand are out of this world but I think this place is lacking the service and attention to detail for a 5 star hotel. We wanted to try it out as we are planning our honeymoon next year and were going to return for the full 2 weeks. We won't be returning to this island, I will be doing my research but I am alsightly put off if this is what 5 star Maldives have to offer. I would expect to be spoilt wrotten for the price you pay.

Room Tip: We stayed in 813 - this was perfect.

We selected this hotel for our honeymoon and it was well worth the price tag. Maldives itself is a 30 minutes flight from Trivandrum, Kerala. From Male, we were taken by Seaplane to Meedhuparu. The view on the flight is breath taking and it makes you sad that global warming is going to make its first blow here. Once you arrive at the hotel, you are whisked off to the water villas in a buggy, given a welcome drink and introduced to your butler(that's right your personal butler!!). Then you are taken by buggy to your villa where a bottle of champagne on ice welcomes you. Needless to say, the views are amazing. The glass floor on the deck is amazing and we spent hours in the night watching the sea life and snorkelling during the day.Unfortunately, we went in April and it was too hot to venture out between 12:00 and 3:00-we had no qualms about staying in the nice cool indoors. The breakfast was complementary and delivered to the room. The friendly butler suggested that we order a bit extra and save some for lunch too which saved us a few hundred quid given that the restaurant at the resort it a bit overpriced. The dinner on the beach was a nice experience too. We ventured on to the resort side of the island once for buffet dinner which was nice. The resort also had facilities for kayaking, diving etc which we decided was not for us. All in all, it was a great experience. Wish we were there for a few more days. My wife was given a small bottle of pure white sand by our butler which she treasures to this day. It cost us a bomb but the experience was well worth every cent.

Room Tip: we stayed in the villa fourth on the right hand side and would recommend it

We have recently stayed in one of the Over Water Villas No 815. We arrived at Male at 0730 and were efficiently transferred to the Seaplane Terminal and waited 1hr for our transfer to the Island. On arrival the Greeting and Check In was all very organized and made us feel very welcome. Our 'Butler' Venkat showed us to our Villa and explained the facilities available to us. The Villa was very nice and all amenities were available and what we needed then Venkat was more than willing to help us. The Snorkeling from the Villa was wonderful, although at times the wind was a bit strong, and the Jacuzzi on the deck was a welcome retreat after a day out or lazing on the pristine beach. One outstanding thing was the food, it was amazing with a good choice and very well presented by the Restaurant Staff, or you can dine in the room if you choose to. The staff were always willing to help and always very welcoming it was a real pleasure to stay there. The only comment I would make is the Mini Bar, whilst I respect the local culture, beer is available in the mini bar so it would be nice to include a couple of small wine bottles as well for the ladies (or gents). Overall, we look forward to returning to the Adaaran OverWater Villas in the very near future.

definitely gotta stay at the adaaran water prestige villa for an experience of your life in Maldives! Always wanted to visit Maldives and I'm glad that I chose this resort for my first stay. Would highly recommend all to stay at the water villa for an exclusive adventure; though it seems more apt for couples, but I had great fun with my friend too :)
dreaming to go there again...
The staff there are really friendly and their housekeeping did such an excellent job that I wish all my hotel stay would be like this...(got a worthy deal on agoda with an all inclusive meals - 1 dinner by the beach, complimentary spa, introductory dive, snorkeling equipment - snorkeling on a daily basis just in my 'backyard')

Room Tip: Rooms in the center (perhaps number 810 on?) may have the best of both sun views (set and rise)

Very nice staff , especially our butler, should be named "vanket" (sorry I'm not sure the spelling). And also the waiter at lounge, they are so nice and kind. Overall the villa is good, but a bit small, privacy is good, food is good, cocktail is good....etc
