“Votsalaki Resort IS the reason you go to Mykonos”

We actually ended up here by default and I'm so glad we did. Our group of friends wanted to rent a house. 3 couples and 2 singles. Both of our singles wanted our own rooms but feared getting the worst rooms in a cottage. Thus we searched and found Votsalaki. They advertised like apartments, but are actually part of a small boutique style resort. The other single and I each rented our own Executive Studio. We each ended up with a great room, our own private bathrooms, and our own private terraces overlooking Paradise Beach and the beautiful Mediterranean. The pictures didn't really capture the authentic look of the resort. Everyone of the 12+ rooms had a great view, and a private terrace or balcony. The infinity pool was perfectly situated overlooking the beach from up on the hill. The outdoor pool bar blended in with the hillside. Once the 3 couples saw the rooms we had reserved, they decided to stay same place as well.

Thinking that you couldn't really improve on the accommodations, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The first person we met was Emmanouela, the resort owner who manned the registration desk. We were taken care pleasantly and immediately able to check into our now 5 total rooms. Later, we would meet Emmanouela's co-owner, her brother Constantinos. They were incredibly friendly and immediately put us into vacation mode. Very shortly later, we met the pool bar staff, Mara and Thenassis. Mara is the main bartender and quite possibly the sweetest person in Mykonos. You can imagine her as a Grecian Goddess in modern times. She was happy to whip up great cocktails, energetic smoothies or heavenly slices of Mama's Chicken Pie for us each day at the pool. Thenassis caught the attention of our entire group - both guys and girls - as he's what you would imagine a Greek God would have looked like. Can't say it wasn't unpleasant seeing both him and Constantinos poolside each day. While it was great that the entire staff was very easy on the eyes, more importantly they were all incredibly do nice and social. Mara is an incredibly metaphysical person who instantly draws you in with her joy of life living in Mykonos. She helped to set up a couple private boat trips for us that we were able to pick up right down at Paradise Beach. If you go, definitely have her hook you up with George (our boat captain) and do a day trip to Delos to the West or the caves to the East - or better yet...BOTH. You could also easily take a 5-10 minute bus trip into town at the bottom of the hill for a couple of Euros.

The one major negative that folks mentioned about this resort was that there was a lot of noise from the club down the hill as well as a club up the hill that was open all night. First - if you like clubs and dancing, your in a perfect spot...enjoy. If you like to get to bed, the noise wasn't really an issue. Once I was in my room with the terrace door closed, I barely noticed it. The club down the hill was always hopping during the day. It was an outdoor club associated with the beach. You could grab breakfast and lunch at the Votsalaki Bar or if you wanted something different, the beach had several restaurants (Greek, Pizza, etc) and bars attached to it. There was also a 24 hour restaurant and Mini-mart next to the bus stop just below. The resort. You could pick up beverages and snacks at either the mini-market or a small shop between the resort and the beach (about 40 yards away), and pick up sandwhiches for a picnic or boat trip at the 24 hour restaurant. None of these establishments, including the resort were expensive either. My room charges for the week, which included heavy poolside drinking daily, breakfast each morning and several lunches (Trust me - get the chicken pie) ran about 160 Euros for the entire week.

Would I recommend this place to anyone? Actually I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I went back. This was the gem of the Island. Centrally located, attached to a nice size and fairly active beach, convenient to water taxis that can take you to any of the other beaches for a few Euros, great view, and just 10 minutes from town. Don't rent a scooter - too dangerous...and you won't need it. The bus was easy to find...and convenient. Definitely one of the best vacation resorts I've ever stayed at. Most importantly, I met the staff when I arrived, but they became friends before the end of the trip. They went beyond customer service - and made us feel like family.

“Perfection and Location”

We stayed at Votsalaki at the end of our honeymoon and it was perfect. The apartment has a good amount of space for 2 people, well furnished and the aircon worked well. The location is just above Paradise beach, next to a beach club and 2 nightclubs so you can access fun in the sun and nightlife but come home to your own little oasis. The pool area with bar is very well designed, with super comfy loungers and well-placed areas of shade. We wanted to hang out poolside all day. The apt is also 3 mins from the bus stop that takes you into town, with a mini market right next to the bus stop. It's a great place to rent to hang out at Paradise and also to visit the neighboring beaches via water taxi. Emmanouela and her brother were so super nice throughout our stay and gave us great suggestions on things to do and places to eat. We felt like we were visiting our friends staying at Votsalaki, and when you're so far from home, it's places like these that you treasure.
