“Thoughtful and Generous Hospitality”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We spent two peaceful nights in the B&W (en suite) room in Oct 2012, and loved it. The attention to detail and level of thoughtfulness and generosity that goes into the hosting at No 32 is comparable only with staying with family (with privacy!). On top of the warm welcome, the comfortable, spotless accommodation and the great view, you're treated to an incomparably generous breakfast (with very enjoyable company, in our fortunate case!) and an unfamiliar sensation of your every wish having been anticipated and catered for - for me, a shelf full of books you want to read and a drawer full of local info inc maps (not to mention the bathroom extras and coffee etc others have referred to) make the difference between somewhere to stop over and somewhere to call home for a short while. Kim and Gerry were the perfect hosts, and we're looking forward to returning (they were fully booked last time we tried, darn it). Just faultless, exemplary hospitality. Oh, and comfy bed, nice linens, I could go on and on....!

This B&B is excellent with very friendly and welcoming owners. Fantastic location overlooking the quayside. The two rooms are decorated to a very high standard with everything you require provided. Breakfast is fantastic with quality produce. Location is ideal for exploring this part of Essex, Maldon is a large town with a good selection of pubs and restaurants. Parking is provided in front of he house.

My boyfriend and i stayed here in May (slightly delayed review!) and it was a thoroughly wonderful experience. We stayed in the gold room which was large, clean, comfy and had stunning views to the front, back and side. There were lovely little touches in the room such as fresh coffee and milk, homemade biscuits, puzzle books, wine, robes and slippers. The bathroom is next to the room rather than en suite but had a very luxurious feel and nice products. The breakfast was one of the best i have had when staying in a b&b or hotel - it was plentiful, varied and delicious. The hosts were great - helpful yet not overbearing and allowed us to have our privacy.

We also enjoyed delicious fish and chips from the Friendly Fryer.

We would definitely stay there again.

We chose to stay at this B & B as it was near to where our friends lived in Maldon.

Although check in was 3pm the owners allowed us to park our car on the drive from 1pm when we arrived.

On checking in we were given the Gold Room which was excellent. A large room overlooking the Blackwater Estuary and the front and side and the church at the rear. TV on the wall, large wardrobe, chest of draws plenty of storage space if you were staying a while. Big comfy bed and pillows.

Next door to our room was our private bathroom, again large with a shower over the bath, luxury complementary toilerties. If we stayed again we would request the black and white room which had the bathroom en suite.

We had a hearty english breakfast the next morning and a chat with another couple at the table who were guests too.

The owners were friendly and the house and garden were beautiful, check out was 10.30 which was just right for us.
Would recommend this B&B and would return if we visit the area again.
