Description: The best pub venue in Maldon, set on the Blackwater river.Thames barges aline the quayside. Large patio area, with seating for over 100 people. Over looked by Maldon St Marys Church. A wonderful setting on the quay, a fantastic old working dock fo yesteryear.

I mostly eat fried haddock in batter with a salad...and it is always delicious. The salad has a good selection of ingredients and good quality.
The staff are mostly friendly - bar staff smile more than the waitresses.
However, the view from the restaurant and the seating area around the bar is superb - probably the best in Maldon.
They have a reasonable selection of wine and an excellent selection of cask beer.

A nice pub for lunch or a drink afterwards or before dinner. The view over the Blackwater is great and there are preserved Thames barges just outside. An excellent dusk makes Heart of Darkness (book not film) worth reading again.

Eaten here many times with family and friends food is very tasty but portions have got smaller.
When we first started eating here you would have a whole plate of chips and your fish would be resting on top. Now its hunt the chips, this is not a one off as it was like this a few weeks before when we ate there.

This is a real shame that they are cutting the meal size im guessing its so they can keep the price the same, but lets be honest chips and peas are the cheap bit so you would think there would be plent, at £10.00 a meal, its no good if your still hungry. its not likely that we will be going back still okay if you just want a beer but i would say look eslewhere for food.

We called here for a meal on our way to Southend and as the weather was so nice we declined using the restaurant and ate outside with a superb view of the estuary and the boats moored up. We have eaten in the restaurant before and the service and food are fine. Good "pub grub", with a particularly good seafood selection.

Most of the time I am quite disappointed when I go to a pub advertising 'home cooked food' to find that it is anything but.

I was pleasantly surprised with what I was presented with at the Queens Head in Maldon. It was all fresh and well presented. The service was polite, professional and fast, even though the restaurant was full (a testament to the fact that they are doing something MANY people love!)

I will definitely be visiting again when I am next in Maldon!
