The beach has large waves for surfers close to the pier. Also has westerly winds on shore ideal for kite surfing. I swim there regularly in the summer and run on the sand and promenade all year round. Sometimes have trouble passing Franco's chip shop and Remo's excellent cafe

People pass Port Talbot via the M4 and not know about the beach area........lovely clean wide spans of golden sand.........sitting having a drink watching the world go by.........lovely scenery particularly at sunset. Sunset is a must, have seen many sunsets the world over but not like we get here in Wales.

aberavon beach is, long, moody, one end is busy, the other is tranquill and secluded. it curls round toward swansea, the sand is soft, the sea is safe , no nasty rocks, ledges or shingles. there is always masses of room on the beach , even in the summer, would be even better if visitors took their rubbish with them when they leave, the authoties do well to maintain the beach and have recently update the prom , which offers an accessable, long walk, suitable for all ages, of all mobility ability. there is food and drink available to agood standard, there couldbe more , as long as they maintain the standard, kiddies pool and play areras. again these could be repeated at least once more along the prom. Aberavon is great, look after it.
