My heart sank a little as I drew into the car park - the building looked like it had seen better days and I imagined my experience would be grimly British Seaside 1960's. How wrong I could be! My bedroom and the interior generally was comfortable, warm, clean and well decorated - almost plush in parts, in that slightly strange, heavy style beloved of many hotels. Front-facing windows have broad sea views.

Staff, especially in the restaurant, were friendly and efficient although the service to our meeting room was a bit hit and miss. Buffet lunch and dinner portions were generous and the bar offered at least one real ale on traditional handpump.

Although it obviously faces some maintenance and repair challenges and the external architecture reflects the worst of the period, the hotel retains some attractive 1960s-70s internal features. It seems to be a popular venue for conferences and, judging by the Christmas parties in full swing, for community events and office do's. So don't be put off by appearances!

Can't say it was the nicest looking hotel I stayed in but the beds were really comfortable and the showers hot so a good place to recover from a long drive. The building is a 70s square block. Good value for money.

I stayed here for 1 night on a lightening fast business trip to the UK. Friendly and helpful staff, clean room and good food. The full breakfast was perfect. Not sure if I will ever return to the area but if I do I will definitely stay here.
