I stayed here in November 2013 for a business trip.
I chose this hotel because of the great price I got on the room rates, which included all of the leisure facilities.

We received a warmish welcome on arrival.

My room was a decent size and nicely furnished. The view outside was of the sea, which was very nice.

I used the swimming pool all 3 days and it was more or less empty. The steam room, sauna and jacuzzi were an added bonus and I made good use of these too.

On the second night (a Saturday), there was a busy wedding on, and whilst trying to sleep there was a lot of noise with kids running about on the second floor. I even had my door knocked on a few times - This was the only downer on an otherwise pleasant stay.

The restaurant served very nice food for Dinner, and the breakfasts were also above average.

If in this area again, I would definately choose to stay here.

When you arrive you think, 'oh no, what have I booked!' However, once inside the reception staff are brilliant, the rooms tidy and there's a good selection of bar and restaurant food.

The only gripes I had were the TV which appeared to only have four working channels and the room is quite hot, even with window open and its only March.

Evening meal was good and again, staff in bar area were great.

I'll be going back!

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea View room, they really do have a great view.

Don't be put off by the exterior of the hotel which looks like a throwback from the 60s. Perception changes as soon as you walk in the door. Inside the hotel in lovely. Very friendly and helpful staff. The whole place is spotless Room was clean, bed very comfortable. View was great. Excellent value, would definitely stay there again.

Just returned from my third stay at the BW Aberavon Beach, as I visit Port Talbot regularly on business. The building has seen better days, but the it's comfortable and well equipped, and not too far from the centre of Port Talbot. The reception was quick and efficient, and the bar and bar meals were good, but the room was was a serious disappointment.
Room 119 is onthe first floor, and offers good views over the sea-front, but I was immediately struck by a strange smell damp, and noticed peeling wallpaper and a damp and mouldy carpet. I'd just driven almost 300 miles, and I couldn't be bothered to make an issue of it on arrival, but there should have been no doubt that the room was unfit for use.
When I reported this to the hotel in the morning, they expressed surprise, but it's inconceivable that the housekeeping staff were unaware of the dampness etc.
It was such a shame, because my previous experiences of the hotel have been good.

Staff helpful and genuinely interested in making stay present. Food was a present surprise with a restaurant manageress who clearly stayed on after her staff had gone to make sure we were fed and could not have been nicer about it. Common areas recently refurbished. Don't let the rather run down exterior put you off.

Stayed for the second time this month at this hotel, after not such a good experience the first time, we were very happy this second time. Room 320 was at the front, overlooking the sea, and at high tide made for a very lovely atmosphere and panoramic view.

I do not understand why the hotel advertises flat screen tv's in all rooms, when this is the second time we have had an old dated analogue tv that only picks up four channels, the only other problem we found was that the bathroom tap wouldnt turn off, no matter how we tried to fix it, at this point though it was late and we didnt really see it as a problem, there was hot water, plenty of towels and toiletries.

The bed was comfortable, extra pillows are needed though although thats just a personal view!

Was lovely waking up to the sea in front of your window, I recommend asking for a sea view, Swansea bay is magnificent.

We ordered chocolate brownie and ice cream for room service after eating outside the hotel, the prices are very expensive when you can go next door to the Four Winds and have a good meal at a reasonable price, or across the road to Remo's on the beachfront.
We did order Chocolate Brownie and Ice Cream via Room Service, this was amazing and one of the best Ive ever had!

Breakfast was very nice, continental to start and then a something from the menu, be it haddock, kippers to cooked breakfast, coffee and tea available as are fruit teas and fruit juices, a lovely filling menu.

I would come here again after a better experience, staff were friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: Request room 320 or at least a front facing sea view.
