This was our first visit to The Colliers for many years and we were not disappointed at all.
The staff were all pleasant and helpful without being in your face all the time, they were quick and efficient with the service too.
The food was lovely and hot and plenty of it for the 3 of us and well worth the money.
We will be back.

A Friday night dinner for my wife's birthday, we booked a table in advance.
When we turned up it took about 5 minutes of standing at the bar before anyone took any notice of us at all. The woman behind the bar was more interested in cleaning out the cash register.
We eventually ordered drinks and were shown to our table. The restaurant was mostly empty. Then the fire alarm went off, no-one moved and the waiter explained it was a fault. That went on for 20 minutes before they turned it off.
It was a mixed shared starter, some items lukewarm, so that was very average to me, and my wife thought it less so.
However the main course, where we both had rib-eye steak, was superb, an excellent piece of meat and perfectly cooked (rare and medium to well done) and the chips were very hot and a nice side salad.
But, yes another but, we were accompanied during our main course to several children running around (and around) upstairs directly above us.
One other good point was he Felinfoel Double dragon (one pint) which was really excellent.
Again we had to wait standing beside the bar before eventually someone saw to the payment
A mixed night!!

I came here with a few friends a few weeks back as one had been the week before. We had starters of mushrooms and they were lovely and creamy. For main I had chicken, BBQ sauce and cheese with mash which was equally nice. The only negative was that we had to ask where our starters were as they took a long time. Other than that we really enjoyed and the owner was nice too. As previous reviews has stated, the picture is not of the Colliers in Pontrhydfen!

Beware that the photograph of the pub in this review is not correct. Someone has uploaded the wrong one!
The pub has excellent access with a arp ark on the side. It is in the village of Pontrhydyfen which is the birthplace of Richard Burton. The pub is alongside a cycle track that goes up to the mountain bike centre in Tonmawr (The start of the famous 'Wall' mountain bike trail).
A fine place it eat drink and be merry!

Been here 3 times for Sunday dinners. Absolutely first class. The food arrived hot with a smile from the waiter/waitress. Plenty on the plate cooked to our perfection. Price excellent best eatery in (Efail Fach) Port Talbot. Why more people don`t use it is a mystery?
