“What a fabulous B&B.”
Reviewed April 22, 2011

What a fabulous B&B. We received a very warm welcome to this stylish and very well appointed guest house within easy reach of the beach and centre of town. You can tell that the couple that run Mountain View have great pride in their operation and care for their customers with every guest comfort and attention to detail. Would we stay again? - Absolutely without question!

We stayed here for a couple of nights for the Ryder Cup. For £25 a night pp it really was great value for money. As mentioned in a few other reviews they do have a couple of enormous dogs who are beautifully behaved. It could put people off if they really didn't like dogs but they were no problem at all.
The room and bathroom where cleaner than most other hotels I have ever stayed in - completely spotless. The bed was very very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful, cooked to order and delicious. For £25 a night I don't think you could do better. Was perfect for our occasion. The only thing I would say is the location. For eating in the evening I would recommend going further afield than Port Talbot town centre. There are eating options there but it isn't the nicest place in the world!

We stayed at the mountain view B andB as part of a trip to afan forest for a cycling weeeknd , the welcome was warm and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable .
Breakfast was a treat with a great choice on offer I even pushed my luck and asked for more toast which was not a problem !
I've travelled all over the world and this b and b was ideal for what we wanted,
I will return in the spring !

A very comfortable B&B. We had our own private bathroom and use of additional kitchen with everything we needed. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and breakfasts were great!

Stayed while mountain biking in Afan with friends. Absolute bargain for £25 a night in a twin. Clean and friendly B&B with great breakfast and lock-up for bikes. Might not be perfect if you don't like dogs, they were totally harmless though. Must have the breakfast burrito's next time!

A mate and i were mountain biking in Afan and booked in at the Mountain View.

The location of the b&b is pretty close to the centre of town and we found the owners very pleasant and welcoming.

The twin room we had in the separate property was more than sufficient for 25 quid each and had the additional bonus of being able to cook ourselves an evening meal.

Breakfasts were nice with many different options offered to us.

There was a number of books, magazines, dvd's and games available to all guests to use which i thought was a nice touch as evenings out in Port Talbot are a little quiet!

We had a few questions about what to do and where and found the owners at all times really willing to go out of their way to help us.
Enjoyable stay..... thanks

Jez

My friend and I got as far as registering our arrival with the proprietor and completing the breakfast form. As we returned to the car to collect our bags and bikes, we both collected our thoughts on the very unwelcoming reception we had received and decided that we were not prepared to stay at this B & B, so we got in the car and drove home. My advice to anyone who is considering a stay here is to think again. I have travelled the UK and the world and stayed in many varied places but I can truly say that I have never met such rude and unwelcoming people in 25 years. Be it at your peril if you go against this advice!!!!

We are sorry about this incident but there are two sides to every story. The people in question booked a twin room for themselves and a single room for a friend. The day before, they rang to say they would not need the second room and put the phone down when they were told they would lose the deposit for the second room. They called back, stating that they would bring another friend to stay in the single room. When they arrived, there were only two of them and they insisted on having a single room each. They were offered the twin room which had been reserved for them and were told that they did not need to pay for the single room. They left, saying they would collect their bags, but did not return. We later learnt that they had cancelled their deposit cheque prior to arrival. It is with regret that these people went away dissatisfied because we were unwilling to meet their demands.
