A very nice experience. The HIGHEST PUB etc. is very cosy , crowded on the day which was welcome. It was very cold and the wind pumping at 70 knots.
Rooms are spacious and a fire was lit fir us which made it very very cosy.
The food was good and the service prompt and friendly.
Expensive accommodation but I suppose that being the ONLY place to stay, they can charge since demand exceeds supply.
It's worth a trip up the mountain.

Room Tip: It depends on what one wants. We stayed in the hotel rooms. Nice. There are also self catering and backpackers accommodation .

Looked forward to this as a highlight of trip but dissapointed by accomodation.
Setting is superb, meals and dining room/ lounge fantastis and staff their very friendly and attentive.
Had booked in advance a backpacker dormitory room which I felt the website and information available was misleading in - it was offsite some 800m down a track from the main building/ meals.
Rooms were adequate but bathrooms in a separate building accessed from outside.
Cold during our stay - but most of winter is there - and there was NO water at all in the backpacker kitchen/ bathrooms during our stay.
Despite this and the unexpected distance from main site manager was no particulalry interested or helpful - offered upgrade for another R1000 on an already expensive night.

Unimpressed. Will stay elswewhere next time - you don't have such a monopoly that you can charge what you like for poor service.

Room Tip: don't do backpackers in winter unless expect freezing cold walk in dark from main building and take own water???

We travelled up the mountain on motorbikes and what an experience . The pub is amazing with breathtaking views. The food was good and prices was fair considering where it was located. I found the lodge a bit overpriced but it is good and clean. The early morning views is just indescribable and worth the money paid. Overall this is one of the most amazing places I have been in the world. Strongly recommend.

I absolutely loved this place, the journey up was breathtaking, the views stunning. Inside the lodge there was so much culture and interesting things to read. Travelers coming and going and locals passing through. I could spend a couple days up here easy..
