We decided to take our relatives, down from Townsville, to the Beerwah Hotel. We arrived at our reserved time, decided on our order, and after a ten minute wait in line, placed our order at the counter. we were told that there would be a 45 - 60 minute wait. This was the start of a very unrewarding experience. 70 minutes later, after further enquiry as to the progress of our order, three of the four meals arrived. They had obviously sat on the counter as the rice was cold, as was the fish and chips, and the potatoes wedges in salmon dish were not crispy. The plate on which the salmon was served felt greasy and looked dirty. The fourth arrived 5 minutes after that and appeared to be freshly cooked and plated. Yes it was a Saturday evening - 6:30 arrival and food not out until 8:00pm. Has the Hotel, through its expansion, over extended itself? There were obviously not enough staff in the kitchen to produce quality food.
As for service - that's another story. Had no one ever taught their staff that they should not clear plates until all members of the party had finished? And that you don't lean across other patrons to remove plates especially when they are still eating.
