We visited this place during our Venice trip and we had a great day at Murano. We visited numerous glass factories and show rooms and while all were impressive we ended up making a purchase here. We had decided ahead of time that we were going to purchase something from Murano for our home back in the US. So we went to the island with the intent of checking out all of the glass factories and buying something to ship home. After much walking and looking and talking we found a vase we really liked at this place. We were shown the upstairs room (where they keep the good stuff !!) at every factory but always felt like we were being pressured to buy something. At this place Ivano showed us around then left us alone and when we expressed an interest in something he would describe to us exactly how the peice was made. A touch we really liked. When we decided which pieces (it was down to 2 vases) we liked Ivano left us alone to discuss and look at the 2 in detail. Once we decided which one we were willing to buy Ivano worked up a price which we felt was quite reasonable compared to all of the pieces we had looked at during the day (and the ones we had researched on the internet).

The final step is the shipping and our package was shipped as promised, on time and packaged very well. It was also the exact piece we picked out at the factory.

The vase is now prominently displayed in our home and a constant reminder of the wonderful trip we had to Italy.

We visited this factory in February they could not have been nicer. My little girl broke a glass horse in the showroom, which we had purchased from another factory. The owner presented her with a glass cat from his stock, with no charge. We were also taken around all the showrooms and through to the back of the factory, where we watched them making their glass figures, really impressive and really friendly. Thank you so much for adding to my 40th birthday experience.

BEWARE OF FORNACE MIAN. They sold us defective merchandise, but worse, they would not respond to our inquiries. We are sad to report that Fornace Mian shipped us defective glass from what we were promised during our visit to their factory, and they would not respond to any subsequent contacts we attempted to make with them. At their factory, we purchased a vase at a substantial cost which was promised to be defective-free. Yet, the vase that they shipped to our home a month later was a defective vase with a chip and crack that we saw at their factory on a vase during our visit. We were promised that the vase we would receive would not have that defect. We have had a glass expert look at our vase, and it's clear that the chip and fissure leading into the interior of the vase was not caused by shipping but was in the glass prior to being sent. Most disappointing is that the company has not answered a single constructive, polite email or contact that we have sent to it. Thus, they leave us no choice but to conclude that Fornace Mian operates a "bait-and-switch" business in a fraudulent way, and they try to leave you no recourse once you are back home thousands of miles away. However, having two of us in the family who have worked for the Attorney General's Office, we will be exhausting our recovery efforts just on principle and to try prevent others from becoming victims. We thought we had found one of the reputable glass manufacturers/dealers in Murano, but Fornace Mian showed we were mistaken.

The charm of Murano is not in the glass or the glass blowers. This is a good factory but that is what it is.

The charm of Murano is in Murano. The setting and the people. Stoll around the grounds and enjoy both. Glass is glass. Nice but not the major attraction of this beautiful island. Take a half day from Venice.

Interesting to see the glass blowing taking place and opportunity to buy from the warehouse at good prices
