Owner description: Discovery Wildlife Park provides "forever" homes for orphaned wildlife and displace exotic animals. Daily animal presentations are included with your admission and provide an up close educational experience for all ages. Bears, tigers, jaguars, lions and wolves all take part in these presentations to educate our visitors on conservation issues and the importance of respect for all wildlife. We have a full concession plus an amazing gift shop for your shopping pleasure! Electric golf carts are available to rent if you have a family member with mobility challenges. New this year is our 65 site campground equipped with 30 and 50 amp power, washrooms, showers and located right in the Park! Listen to the animals at night, book an evening animal encounter for the whole family, fish in our stocked trout pond - there are lots of reasons to spend a night or two at the Park! Parking is free and there is plenty of room for big RVs and buses. The park is 90 acres and there is about a mile of walking, there are tables and benches throughout the park for your family picnic (yes, you may also bring your own lunch!) and we offer photo opportunities with our awesome bears and our TV star beaver.

I had a great time, it was surprising as it didn't look like much from the highway, what a great treat.

It made me cry to see the beaver chewing on the chain link cage, presumably because there were no trees in his habitat.. The bears (with the exception of the Kodiaks) were pacing back and forth, clearly stressed. The big cats were very very skinny, and seemed very lethargic. 15 plus squirrels were kept in a 10x10 cage.
The only thing I loved about this ``zoo`` was that I got to touch one of the moose, and I got to stand maybe 2 metres away from a massive Kodiak bear.
Other than that, very very depressing.

It's a great facility if you don't walk in expecting the polish of a municipal zoo. Many people are spoiled by public zoos, and private zoos have had bad press lately. But there's nothing wrong with a well run private zoo.

The animal selection was great, with many professional animals (ones used for movies). Enclosures are way bigger than ones in city zoos. The reception building is a bit ghetto but functional.

One of the bears were in quite minimal fencing so that was a bit... concerning. Just don't be the slowest tourist when they get out! J/K

One complaint was that they did not let my wife join the bear show just because she was a bit late. It's one of the main attractions so it sucks to miss it. It's an open air show so I think the interruption would have been minimal.

The highlight of the visit was the close interaction with the big cats - tigers, jaguar, black panther. Have never seen such happy and friendly tigers. They responded well to the zoo keepers, came to the fence and literally purred. It was thrilling to be able to touch them and have them lick my palm, all done in a safe and fun environment. The zoo guides were great, very friendly and attentive, one of the ladies even took photos for me throughout the entire experience. The jaguar and the black panther could not be touched, but they also came close to the fence and posed for photos. It was a fun and memorable day.

We were in Innisfail for baseball games and had most of the day to waste away and our hotel was selling tickets to Discovery Wildlife Park. We had first visited the park in its first year of opening so knew what it was like then.
We were pleasantly surprised at how well they developed the park and at how much more they had there this time around.
Although not much staff around to ask questions to the park and animal enclosures are well labelled with information about all of the animals. You get so much closer to animals then you would at any zoo. Defiantly worth packing a picnic lunch and staying for the day.
