Its taken me a while to do this but Christmas day lunch at Goldstone Hall was fantastic.
This year was our second time there for Christmas day lunch. We were a party of 7 this year and again they had things just right in our opinion. Not rushed and when we arrived we were met by very warm and welcoming staff. Its they that had given up there day to serve and wait upon us after all.
The menu for the lunch was interesting, including rabbit terrine and the main was a pleasant mix of local pork from Buttercross farm if my memory is correct. The turkey was done to perfection, many veg were supplied and desserts looked good too(i had to try the 'tart;) followed by a few cheese and biscuits ....as i don't do port i passed on that.

Ok, its not cheap per head, but it was well worth saving up for a great day,as we were there 5hrs in all.

Small, discrete family-owned hotel in rural backroads. Willingly laid out separate dining room for 14 ensuring privacy which was v much appreciated. Food very good, service too and lovely gardens in which to while away afternoon. Standards held well and only hope doesn't become any more commercial with wedding traffic during summer months. Expect good wine - the man at the helm knows his stuff.

Our visit was different as it was as part of a wedding celebration. Nevertheless the food was excellent, service superb and still kept the personal attention to detail - no feeling of mass catering ! Well done Goldstone.
