I had heard of Etxebarri and seen it featured on a TV show, but still did not know what expect on my visit. I was not disappointed. The food was a mix of somewhat common (although not commonly prepared) and exotic/unique. They have a great ability to make it seem almost "home cooked" yet far from home cooked. I find it hard to explain. The meal was one of the best I've ever had. What this chef does with smoke is truly remarkable. If you enjoy beef steak of any kind Etxebarri is a must. I can't imagine a better filet anywhere. A beautiful restaurant in a beautiful village.
