“Beautiful location about 15 miles (?) outside Copenhagen”

It is worth the hour or so drive along the coast to Louisiana, and the bonus when you get there is that it is a Museum of Modern Art, overlooking the water with a nice cafe if you want a bite to eat. The parking can be a big challenge, so get there early or plan to park along a neighborhood street and walk a bit. We were there on a Sunday and tere was live music playing right outside the cafe, on the hill overlooking the water. The exhibits rotate so check the web site for current shows.

“Inside and Outside Beauty”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

On this, my fourth trip to Louisiana, I realized how wonderfully complete this museum is. My family and I ventured all around the outside of the buildings, from the refined sculpture gardens near the sea, to the adventurous slides, rock gardens, and massive tree bridge of the pond side. These areas were a revelation. Enjoy the great interior, do not miss lunch on the veranda, and explore outside, taking every chance to steal down some hidden stairway. You will be enchanted!

“Wonderful Museum”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a must day trip for anybody visiting Copenhagen. We combined this day trip with Kronborg Castle (another great destination) in Helsingor earlier in the day. This was possible because the Louisiana Museum is open late (10:00 pm) during the week so stopping by towards the late afternoon/evening is ideal on your way back to Copenhagen. The outdoor space with views of the water are stunning. There are trails where you'll find sculptures and other cool displays of art throughout. The indoor space of the museum is easy to navigate and contains beautiful works. The gift store is one of the best museum stores I've been to. And the restaurant served a yummy gourmet buffet, which we ate outdoors with the wonderful vista. All and all, I highly recommend Helsingor, Kronborg Castle, and finishing the day off at the wonderful Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

“Depends on the temporary exhibits”
Reviewed August 12, 2014 via mobile

I was excited to visit with my husband, and the view on the coast is lovely, but the museum on the whole was a disappointment. The temporary exhibit was Emil Nolde, and he filled up almost 4 floors, which I thought was too much. In my opinion it could have easily been edited way down, making space for multiple other artists. I thought there would be more permanent exhibits, and one previous reviewer said they had a permanent arctic exhibit, but that was not the case. Which was very unfortunate, because from the pictures, it looked the most interesting to me. If I had known that beforehand, we probably wouldn't have gone. I'd recommend finding out what the temporary exhibit is before deciding to go.
