We visited from Copenhagen on a week day. It's an easy train journey to Humlebaek from Copenhagen's Central station. 10-15 mins walk from Humlebaek station to the Museum.
The museum - it isn't huge - has a good collection of art/sculptures/artefacts and an exhibition which is free (the entry fee to the museum itself covers it, I guess), the sculpture park, the woodland-ish walks around the perimeter of the grounds (a great slide), the view of the sea (you can take your own picnic, or buy food and drinks at the cafe and take it out to the lawn - we did the latter and cafe price was comparable to London museum prices - i.e. not cheap).
The lawn is a good place for kids to run around and for the rest of us to gaze at the sea view and relax the ocular muscles.

If you are vegan, don't forget to eat in advance, as they do not offer any vegan alternatives at all. All I was offered was an apple.

Before my next visit I wrote them an email, but unfortunately they don't even seem interestered in improving their menu with a vegan option which is a shame as the cafe spoils an otherwise good experience.

Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen served a wonderful vegan lunch a while ago. All I had to do was to inform them in advance.

This is a very nice art museum. It's located near te sea, which give you a great view. The children (two boys) had a great time in the Children's wing where they could draw, paint, play with Lego and make sculptures. The garden is perfect for a picnic.

A wonderful modern art museum. The walk from the train station is about 10 to 15 minutes. The museum is located on a beautiful coastal site. Walk around the grounds and enjoy a bite to eat at the outdoor café. Backpacks must be hand carried or stored in a locker.

This museum is placed in a beautiful setting, with gardens all around and a spectacular view of the sea. The museum's collection is a great one (especially the sculptures, which are awesome) and it's very well set out and curated.
