One of the best art galleries I have visited; unassuming, beautiful and populated with art of great merit and interest. A day out for art lovers or those wanting a day of tranquility.
The permanent exhibits included works by artists of World renown and recognition together with exceptional pieces from lesser known but first rate local names. Sculpture, film, two dimensional, sound, light, installation, mull-media … everything you would want from a first rate museum is there to delight patrons from art expert to casual visitors.
Like all great venues the exhibition space is a delight in itself; both interior and exterior space is well design and well used. The panoramic view across the Øresund from the gardens / sculpture park is a wonderful bonus.
When we visited there were two major exhibitions of work by Yoko Ono and Tara Donovan.

This is one of those museums that are so different that you cannot help but be enchanted. The museum structure is a blend between an old traditional building and a Danish modern extension, fully integrated into beautiful surroundings, making the structure itself art. The collections are ever changing and are varied. While I was there a Jackson Pollack exhibition stood in contrast to a historical exhibition on the polar environment.

If you like museums that are quirky (think Isabella Stewart Gardner, or Musee D'Orsay) this one is a must see.

Easily accessible for anyone, inside and outside art, great shop that is minus kitschy tourist trinkets, and very helpful staff. Recommend at least 3 or more hours to fully appreciate the place - better to take a half day and enjoy a respite.

It is worth making the trip out of Copenhagen to see this museum for the train ride, the 15 min walk and finally the gardens of the museum which are adorned with Henry Moores and blessed with views over the Oresund towards Sweden. A nice cafe restaurant provides somewhere to enjoy a beer or glass of wine if you don't care for the collections.

This is an overwhelming museum. During the years we have spent hours here. This time first at the Arctic Exhibition and after having a lunch at the restaurant, we enjoyed the Jorn/Pollac Exhibition. It was too crowded, so I need to plan a whole day here.

Beautifully designed museum with wonderful interconnecting spaces in stunning seaside setting. Cafe really good too. Worth going irrespective of exhibition just to enjoy the space.
