“EXTREMELY RESTFUL - VERY GOOD FOOD”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

If you are in need of a weekend away from it all - this definitely does the trick. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the very good food provided by Steve. Very homely and welcoming. Steve also can provide excellent vegetarian and vegan foods for those of you who prefer.

Room Tip: Rooms are quite dark as they are converted stables so if you intend doing some reading take a book l...

Just over the brow of the Pierenierskloof Pass heading north is this little gem! Friendly greeting, comfortable room and everlasting pool with stunning views! Eat in if you can - Steve's creations with local produce are great value for money and the breakfasts awesome! Thanks for a wonderful two nights!

Room Tip: Ask for one with a stoop - I think rooms 1, 2 or 3.

This was easily the cheapest B&B on our South African tour yet it was still a very nice place,Rooms were somewhat dark and bathrooms fairly basic. Charming host who provided nice breakfasts and a very decent dinner. Our laundry was done here and the pool was the best we saw during our whole SA tour.Overall charming if a little eccentric.

Incredible value considering how much character this place has....gardens, pool, antique furnishings in old stables...and the food is not to be missed, amazing brekkers! The owners were extremely accommodating and friendly - I wish them all the luck with the place, they really couldn't be doing anything any better. Stay there if you get the chance.

A totally unexpected gem on the N7. We stopped to have lunch there and was very surprised. Not the standard fare but great country cooking with unexpected combinations. The bruschetta with goat cheese and beetroot pesto was fantastic. The oriental salad amazing. All made fresh on the spot with a smile. Prices very reasobable. Something you wouldn't expect; definitely worth a repeat visit.

Our room used to be a stable and has been beautifully renovated into an ensuite room. Has a nice looking pool which we did not have time to use with great views of the valley below. If driving here from the south-east then come though Ceres and take the gravel road - easily our best driving experience in SA. Dinner should be pre requested. Steve is a superb chef AND waiter - all the food was incredible and well priced this also goes for breakfast! When we were there they were expecting the arrival of a credit card machine - i hope that this is in place as that will make things easier with payment. Although, they did forewarn us repeatedly about bringing cash. No alcohol license but they are happy for you to bring your own and no corkage fee!
Superb place to spend the night. Highly recommended!

Steve and Caro are charming and we loved the three friendly dogs. Our room (room 2) was quirkily decorated but very small and dark, which caused a bit of an attack of claustrophobia for both of us in the middle of the first night. We looked longingly at Room 1, which was bigger, had a sofa and a couple more windows - had we known, we would have booked it. The bathroom is dark and tiny too (fortunately this is not a place where anyone notices whether you're wearing make up or not) and we just felt we're a bit too old (or boring) for a curtain rather than a bathroom door but that's just us. This said, the breakfast pancakes were certainly the best I'd ever eaten and Steve's assured, grown up cooking is fantastically tasty and good value (the Turkish style kebabs with couscous and the almond and apricot tart were two highlights). Take a few bottles of wine and chill out, enjoy the pool and the view. The N7 can be a bit noisy at times but it's a place with its own off beat charm.

Room Tip: Room 1 is bigger than rooms 2 and 3 and has a lovely view.
