Disappointed for the cost

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 18, 2019via mobile
Stayed here while visiting my daughter who is volunteering in Mongolia. We stopped over at the 50 100 for a night on our way up to the lake. She selected this hotel because it was suppose to be the nicest in town even though the reviews were mixed. The hotel was fine (USA motel 6 standard). The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable but the lines were clean. The room was also clean (minus some moldy caulk in the shower). Hot water and pressure in the shower was great (available from 7pm to 10pm) but the bathroom door wouldn’t close. The location was very convenient however there was street/bar noise both in the evening and early morning. On the positive side the WiFi worked great and the restaurant food was good. Overall the hotel was acceptable ( minus the hard bed and bathroom door) but gets a two star review based on the cost vs quality ratio. You could get a better value at a guest house.

This hotel is not bad, but for $80 a night, you're better off going somewhere else. The staff was friendly, but not particularly accommodating. There were many off details in the room, but the most indicative was the fact that there weren't enough batteries for the remotes. I could talk about the paltry soap and the fluctuating shower temperature, but it's Mongolia. These things happen. The wi-fi is unrelialbe, for you traveling workers. For the price, you would probably be better off staying in a guest house if you speak a little Mongolian.

On the main crossroads, it is fairly simple but reasonably attired. Comfortable bed, decent shower. It has a serviceable restaurant, with solid Mongol fare - dumplings, various meats, etcetera. Within walking distance of everything worth seeing.

We stayed at this hotel as part of our group tour to Mongolia.

A big and spacious room that was very old and out dated, carpet looked dirty, one half of the shower door was missing so water splashed out onto tiles making it slippery, no fan or aircon, no flywire screens to stop blow flies etc from entering the room, no lift so you had to carry your bags up several flights of stairs. Had a fully stocked refrigerator BUT it did not work!

The room had a kettle but no cups or tea/coffee! The bathroom basin had a fixed plug that leaked, therefore impossible to keep water in the basin. Breakfast was adequate.

Is located opposite a supermarket.

Popular with tour groups arriving off the morning flight from UB for lunch before the drive to Khusvgul Lake.

The restaurant is in the cellar part of the hotel so has no windows, but they try and make the design like a Swiss wooden panelled fondue place.

Service is decent. You can point to a picture menu with English descriptions but if you are on tour, they will have arranged a set lunch. They do cater for vegetarians.

We stopped here for lunch and were ushered into a very dark, dingy room. It was depressing to eat in there. The food was mediocre, the portions small and the service not very good. I'd find another place to eat. It may be the best there is in Murun but I certainly hope not.
