While the woman that you stay at her apartment, i.e . guesthouse, is very nice, she doesn't speak English.
Her son in law tries to so call arrange trips for you, tells you that the other options mentioned on lonely plant are no longer availabe . when you are about to head our the 5 day trip is suddenly only 2.5 says, the price stays the same, he tells you that you will have your own transportation, suddenly it's a shared Russian van that leaves when it leaves, you plan on leaving in the morning, suddenly it's 5 -6 PM.
Also he tried to substantially over charge for a ride to the lake.
Stay away!

The guest house was dirty and full of dust, the breakfast very poor. But most of all the owner was very not professional, and not kind. He gave us wrong info about the horse ride he arranged for us and moreover about the buses we needed. Than he acted like a bully and didn’t want give us our money back.

We stayed at Gan-Oyu Hostel in May 2016. This hostel is described in the Lonely Planet as being spotless with staff who are eager to please and while we had a pleasant experience we would not agree with that description. They only have dorm rooms which are reasonably clean though sparse (only beds). The beds are very hard and there are no usable power points. The door to our room did not close properly or lock, there are no lockers to store your valuables. There is one bathroom containing the shower and toilet which was not a problem for us as there was only one other guest when we were there but could be an issue if the hostel were full.

The kitchen is small and cleanish though it generally has a mutton smell to it and it is very small so it always feels cluttered. The free breakfast of bread and jam plus an omelette with tea/coffee is nice and there didn’t seem to be any particular serving time, they just give it to you when you appear in the kitchen.

The wifi is sometimes available and always patchy. Its best to sit in the kitchen next to the router if you need to do anything important.

The staff are around most of the time but are incredibly slow to answer the door. You don’t have a key, you just knock and wait for someone to open the door for you. As they live in the adjoining apartment, they often don’t hear people knocking so we frequently found ourselves getting up to open the door for friends/relatives of the owners. They speak a very small amount of English. Just enough to check you in and offer to drive you to your next destination. The male owner was able to organise a border permit for us and return it to us on the same day which was fantastic!

The location is excellent, right in the middle of town opposite the largest supermarket. It is a short walk from the bus station.

We came back to this hostel on our return to Moron and paid to use the facilities for the day while we waited from an overnight bus and they were happy for us to do that. We thought they could probably spruce the place up a bit and work on their welcome e.g. show you around etc. but despite the slightly strange atmosphere it was a good place to rest your rest if you are in Moron for a night.

I've spent there many times when get to Murun whenever because people are very friendly, hospitable and helpful there. Also, its facilities are great such as kitchen, shower etc..Plus, location is easy to find it in the right town center.
I would like to recommend this Gan-Oyu guest house to other any travelers specially, backpackers who are like me want to find easy/cheap and nice place and smiling people. Actually, Gan-Oyu means owner lady's name :)..Her phone number is +976-99389438. She is very nice person. If you have any chance to go to northern Mongolian beautiful areas, stay there!

Room tip: All good..

The room is kept clean with comfortable bed and free wifi. The location is good to access nearby supermarket, hotels, including delicious restaurant in Murun. It's the corner of the road, which is connected to Kovsgol lake, also you can go to the central bus station by walk. The owner speaks English, surved me homemade breakfast, as well as tea. Good hostel, good location though, online booking seems unreadable. BUT! You can call to the property and they will kindly answer you and help picking you up from the bus station. Since other hostels are really LOCAL and traditional Mongolian home, you will be so much relaxed staying at house:) There's bathroom and shower room inside the house. Comfortable stay.

Room tip: Any room have same condition

Muren is the Capital of Khovsgol Province.Where you can stay for some days some nights...even for short hours..to plan your tours where to go and how to go..
This place in the centre of the town in a apartment...better to call or send mail before you coming..otherwise you get lost..if you arrive early or late night in the night too..they can pick up you from everywhere in Muren even from airport.this place operated by Local Guide's agency in Hatgal. Now they love to call when they tourists call Local Guide....We been there on arrival to Khosgol Nuur and after our reindeer tour up to the north.
Imagine a loose, spread-out grid of streets surrounded by green hills, with a wrestling stadium here, a large, leafy park there, a couple of multistorey hotels, a busy, labyrinthine market, a few gers and a temple complex on the outskirts. That's Mörön (pronounced mu-roon not moron) – a transport hub in northern Mongolia that's also the centre of civilisation in this part of the country (think internet, actual tourist office in the Hostel, a couple of half-decent restaurants in the town). It comes alive in summer when tourists pass through on their way to Khovsgol Nuur,Tsagaan Nuur and if you're exploring the area, you'll probably find yourself lingering here a day or two. If travelling solo, this is your last chance to stock up on supplies here in town./ stop before heading to Reindeers part/Erdenet,Darkhan ,Ub and to west of Mongolia.
