Upon entering, warm smiles and greeting every single time.. Ambiance makes you feel what you are in for.contemporary Asian fusion at it's best! Always have the same server Liz, who guides us through our experience.. dined at all kinds of restaurants, from Texas de Brazil to capital grille. But not too familiar with Asian cuisine.. She guides us through the evening. Started with martinis, ketel 1 ofcoarse and asked which wine she suggest for our dining experience.without a pause she promptly suggested white haven sauvignon blanc from new Zealand, educating us on the difference from Cali sauv.. Semi dry yet fruit forward.. Which was presented in an ice cold chiller along with chilled glasses I noticed she asked the bartender to place in the freezer for a few minutes.. She then guided us through the menu in proper Asian dining. Started with won ton soup which had small prices of shrimp, perfectly cooked, few thinly sliced peppers, and two large pork dumplings, all in a delicious broth. She then told us the next coarse is salad, followed by appetizer, sushi, entree, then dessert. Declined the salad, even though they had a spicy seaweed salad with your choice of tuna, conch, or baby octopus! Only skipped because we wanted extra appetizers.. Had steak tataki, fried calamari, and shrimp dumplings.. At this point she brought out our perfectly chilled wine glasses and served the wine. There beautiful dishes arrived promptly.. A beautiful sirloin steak tataki fanned out on a plate with a rose of the steak presented in the center of the plate.it came served with a light ponzu sauce and scallions scattered through out.. Calamari was perfectly cooked and tossed on sweet sauce..pretty sure it was Thai chili.. Shrimp dumplings where delectable, five tiny little bites of heaven served with a delicious sweet and sour sauce. Liz was glowing with pride after the praise she received from us.also loved that she only poured two ounces of wine at a time, making sure you enjoy your wine and it's quality.. Next was sushi, what Umami is known for.. We picked out a sumo roll, black dragon roll, and lobster roll. We stepped out to smoke, when we came back to a clean table we were completely impressed.. New chopsticks, silver ware, and greeted us with new chilled wine glasses! The sushi came right away, the sumo and black dragon rolls were presented together on one plate.the lobster roll came separate..wow!! Is all I have to say. Beautiful presentation, fresh ingredients and clean taste.. Sushi chefs here have amazing talent.. No need for eel sauce or spicy mayo.. Everything was on point.. Needless to say, couldn't make it to entree. Really did want to try crazy beef with scallion though.. We stepped outside to smoke again when Liz approached and offered to finish our dinner in they're patio.we were pleased to accept. Got us another bottle of wine, new glasses and didn't rush us for dessert.. The second I fathom the thought of dessert, she magically came outside with a non intrusive smile and asked if we were ready for the best part of the meal. Offered we said yes. She offered a tempura fried ice cream and suggested a shot of Baileys Irish cream poured over it. I said yes and yes! Also asked for Thai doughnuts with a green tea condensed milk dipping sauce.. No less than five minutes later the sugar pantheon arrived. Poured only half the shot of Baileys over the tempura ice cream and suggested we use the rest for dipping the doughnuts! Wow wow wow! Never have we felt so special.. Each time we have gone back, we ask for Liz.. Love this place,.please don't change anything. 5 out of 5 all day! Give it a chance and ask for Liz!!
