“Peace and quiet and time to reflect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

If you want an hour of peace and quiet, the walled garden will satisfy you. Well tended gardens with parakeets flying overhead. The Milenium Tapestry display is entirely made by local volunteers and beautifully presented. The home made cakes and teas were delicious.

“Spring at last”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

What a beautiful garden. Everything seemed to be bursting. There were buds opening everywhere. The garden is wonderfully maintained and is so tidy. Even managed to get a car park space on such a sunny afternoon. The embroidery gallery was very interesting especially the glass window of the Fallen Angel.
Tea rooms were very efficient and made a good cup of tea. There were plenty of cakes available.

“A haven of calm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

This is just a small garden but very popular with us locals! It is beautifully laid out and is very attractive from Spring onwards as there are many different types of flowering plants.

There is a small car park right opposite the river, but it is actually much easier to find a parking space in the Orchard Meadow car park (opposite the local shops). It is then just a stroll along a pathway in Orchard Meadow to get there.

Children love it as in the centre is a lion memorial on a plinth which they like running around, and it is also a good and safe location for hide and seek! There is one exit that doesn't have a gate across it but realistically it's hard to lose them in there as it's manageable. Plenty of seats dotted around too.

Combine your visit with a trip to the Sunbury Millennium Embroidery Gallery, also in the garden, which is a stunning piece of needlework to study, even if you are not a local and are unfamiliar with the scenes. So much detail and little things to spot. Beautifully done. No wonder it was considered fit to be opened by the Queen, no less! Free entry but they welcome donations.

There is also a cafe with tables inside and out, with views right over the garden. Great home-made cakes!

A delightful place to while away an hour or two. Worth a visit even if you are passing through or not so local - combine with a saunter along the riverbank opposite which has lovely views and plenty of boats and birds to see.
