Description: The Phoenix has recently been purchased by Authentic Pub Co who are in the process of drawing up plans for a major refurbishment of the pub and garden. In the meantime we have given the place a thorough clean and 'blitzed' the beer and lager lines. We now serve a range of well kept beer and lager. We have put a small but carefully selected wine menu in which offers a range of wines by both the glass and bottle. We have totally redesigned the menu and now offer a selection of freshly prepared dishes including home made pies and burgers. We hope to close in January for our refurbishment but will keep you posted closer to the time, in the meantime we hope you enjoy the little changes we have made. Hope to see you all soon.

Ordered a sharing platter of rosemary and garlic camembert. I realise it was a hot day but it was a melted mass that was impossible to put on the very frugal amount of bread, plus it was just plain not flavoured. Our skin on fries had no skin only a huge amount of salt! we ordered extra bread to soak up the 'soup' which we had to ask its whereabouts 20 min later. A vodka lime and soda was flat, the member of staff offered no explanation or apology! Part of the terrace was cordoned off due to a wasps nest being in a planter, presumably they were still waiting for its removal!

Went here for food on Sat 30th June with 4 friends visiting from Australia. After a fantastic day on the river what better way to end than a nice pub meal.....how wrong could we be.
Ordered Fish and Chips and 2 burgers, waited over an hour for food, chips arrived cold and fish that tasted like deep fried kippers, with a portion of dried up mushy peas so small that they wouldn't satisfy a mouse. Absolutely disgusting food and I believe the pub is "under new management" ( maybe time to get a new career) This was the worst pub food I have ever eaten and quite how this pub remains open is beyond me. The bar was completely full of dirty glasses piling up as you ordered, woefully understaffed, and a miserable end to what was a great day. God help this place if Gordon Ramsey ever drops in.
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Don't say you weren't warned.

Four of us came for a meal on Saturday. We waited over an hour for the food. The fish and chips were the worst we had ever tasted. The fish tasted like deep fried smoked kipper and the chips were cold. The tiny portion of mushy peas looked like they had been sitting around all day in the heat. The chicken burgers were really tough. They charged £11 to £12 for each meal, when they shouldn't be charging anything for such foul tasting rubbish..they should be shut down. They think it's ok to be ripping people off and making money from serving pure rubbish - they should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Will be telling everyone I know never to go to this place.

This pub has a large terraced outside area with tables and chairs overlooking the river. We walked, so don’t know if they have a car park.

We only ordered fries which were fine, hot and freshly cooked. There only seemed to be a single lady doing everything, clearing tables, bringing out food etc.

It was a beautiful sunny day and a very pleasant place to have a drink.

Can’t comment on the rest of the food.
