“A closer look to indigenous tribe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

The mummy is owned by one group of Dani (local tribe) family who still live in their original traditional houses. To see the mummy you need to negotiate the price first with the owner, therefore it would be better if you come with local people. Be careful if you want to take pictures of the local inhabitants who wear their traditional clothes, the price need to be agreed upon beforehand. Yet, the experience is really worth the price.

“It's an interesting site to go and see if you are an adventurer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

This site is quite interesting as it's located in the village of Jimaka - Wamena. GO there if you are only an adventurer person; as you have to to to Jayapura first then transfer to a small propeller plane to Wamena. Bring camera, mosquito propellent, jacket and some snacks to eat for yourself.

“Interesting Mummy worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2013

The Mummy of Jiwika is located in the village of Jimika. From Wamena, catch a bus to Pasar Baru Market (A2 bus) to catch the bus to Jimika (you can take the KL or WL bus). Tell the driver that you are going to the Mummy of Jiwika and he will stop. The ride is about 30 min. There is a clear sign on the side of the road as well. The walk from the road to the mummy is about 5 min. The mummy is located in a hut at the end. We had to pay 50KIDR per person to bring it out from the hut. The person in charge told us about the history of the mummy. We could take photos, but if we wanted other persons in the photos we had to pay 5K IDR per each person in the photo. Overall is definitely worth a trip
