For its class, I must say that this hotel does not disappoint me - the rooms are clean and the food at its restaurant is great. It also provides free wifi throughout the hotel. We had an overnight stay at this hotel on our way to Raja Ampat and the check in staff were equally efficient.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: They have several choices type of rooms, u can discuss it wt receptions. Since its not a big hotel...

We stopped in at Sorong before embarking on a Live Aboard Dive Ship, "The Pearl of Papua".

Everything was booked through our operator and hotel room cost almost twice what others have reported for a basic room with no window.

We got in early around 06:00am and although the operator had arranged transport from the airport no-one showed up. We made our own way to membramo, we were quoted 100,000rp from airport to hotel. High aparrently but after overnight travelling we couldn't be bothered bartering.

Hotel got my name wrong, not a massive deal.

English was a struggle for the staff but they did their best and helped us out, sadly there was not much to do. Booked 3hrs with a 'security driver' to take us north to cassowary beach (75000 per hour).

Our room smelled of stale smoke which was a bummer.

Food was great, I recommend the seafood nasi goreng!

Hotel offers a boat and scuba hire on a day rate. Bring your wallet or come in a group, costs started from about AUD$1100 for fishing with add on costs for fishing, snorkeling or diving equipment and guides.

If you can help it, I recommend keeping your stay in Sorong to a minimum.

The Royal Memberamo is a simple place: clean, the no-smoking rooms really smell like no one smokes in them, the water is hot and lasts a long time, the sheets are clean, the staff are friendly and efficient, the rooms are quiet, and the food in the restaurant is good. Central location: you can walk to the waterfront where are the decent food stalls are. I've stayed at this hotel 6 times so far and it is the best one in Sorong.

Nice rooms, great food and pleasant staff in a place where I spent 2 nights while staying in Sorong.
The restaurant serve really good food and the bar is really complete considering that it is very difficult to find anything around there.
Will for sure stay there again in during my next trip in R4.

After a wonderful 5 days journey to Raja Ampat, Pak Benny -our tour leader- took us to this hotel before departing to Jakarta next day. We stayed in room 201. It's nice, although not spacious. Moreover, we're family of 4. But it's ok. We could refresh after camping, trekking, hiking, sailing, and those kind of nature activities. The shower, the bed, AC, TV, electrical outlet, were such gems for us :)
Yes, this is the best hotel in town! Nowadays, you wouldn't find any better hotel. But, as the Raja Ampat tourism is getting more famous, it's supposed to be more hotels like this in Sorong. Service is excellent. It's clean. But I suggested the hotel to change the shower. It's strong, but not comfortable.
The bed is comfortable. We've got an extra bed. Amenities and toiletries are complete. From our room, we only could see local residences. It's really close from the hotel. If we could open the window, we could jump to their roof!
Breakfast is OK. They've got bread with the accessories, rice, noodle, fruit, snacks, juice (it's not fresh. It's syrup), coffee, tea, fried potatoes, chicken nuggets, porridge, and so on.
Most of the guests were business guests. I'm not sure about the rate, coz Pak Benny did the reservation for us.
There are some mini shops around the corner. It's not located on the main road, so it's not noisy. This is not a hotel for recreation or leisure. If you wish to entertain your self, jump to Raja Ampat! The hotel staff could assist you, I think. Or you can find another operator/travel agent. I'd be pleasure to advice you to connect with the best operator I've known.
