Well firstly, kandovan is well worth the trip. it is a remarkable working & living village. Unlike Capaddocia (which is often the comparison), people live and work in this village. it is not just for tourists and hotels. So observing the life and seeing these amazing rock formations and the way of life is really so worth the trip. We took the trip in late November so it was a bit cold and there was snow but we had the village to ourself and really felt the ability to engage. The locals are lovely and whilst not much English is spoken, we found them really nice. The downside is that without the tourists, eveyrthing is closed so you are relying solely on the hotel for meals and so forth and none of the tourist shops were open (there are a few). Okay as for the hotel, if you've been to Capaddocia and stayed in a 4-5 star, do not expect the Laleh to be at that level but it is nice. when you arrive, the reception is actually in a mobile trailer which is at the bottom of the hotel (not in it). Your luggage is then taken up to your room. As for the room; it was warm (underfloor heating) and everything else was just fine. comfortable bed, tv, good restaurant, etc. We were the only ones in the hotel but were well looked after. There were minor problems with the room, a bit drafty through the doors (it was fine as the rooms were so warmly heated) and a few other small things that were likely because it was off season but in general, it was nice and worth a stay. People have written about the stairs one must climb to the hotel and rooms. They are not exaggerating. It is a climb and cannot be done by anyone with a disability or that is not able to climb. It is particularly hard because of the altitude which really does make you gasp for air. It is do-able and don't let this put you off but the elderly, out of shape or disabled cannot do the climb. In terms of getting to Kandovan, you need to travel via tabriz and the hotel will arrange for airport pick up. it is about a one hour drive. it costs about 380,000 Rials return (the rate of exchange was $1=1300 Rials or €1=1700 rials), so fairly decent costs and the driver was waiting for us when we arrived. I would recommend staying 2 nights if you can. During the offseason the rate was $200 per night for a room with a jacuzzi. I suspect in high season, this goes up. So if you have the chance, do go....I suspect that in the spring the mountains will be lovely but we really loved going in the winter as the landscape was just incredible...

Room Tip: there are only 12 rooms and any would be fine.

My wife and I was there for out mini honey moon.
We decided to go there for several reasons, one of them was the climate of that area in the summer.

Because it is in North of Iran and the weather is not so hot and it is really good choice to spend one or tow days in this hotel. The hotel is beside the Stone village(Kandovan) that is the most amazing village in the world that has inhabitants still living there.
The most important thing that I should explain is the situation of this hotel.
This hotel is founded on the mountain and it means you should climb it and if you have problem to climb up it is not good for you.but last time when i was there ,they were trying to install escalator as well so before you go there first ask about this if you need this stuff. Also there some people to help you to bring up you luggage to your room.
it is better you book it before you go because it is always fully booked.

Well designed rooms with jacuzzi and TV make it a peaceful atmosphere and a place that you want to have relaxation.
The Restaurant is in the top of the hotel and has local traditional foods that all of them are organic and they are so delicious.
At the end I would like to tel you that it was a delightful experience that deserves to try it once

Room Tip: Choose a suit with jacuzzi

No need to say:The experience of staying in the heart of mountain is something that worth any shortcomings,
Our room (suite+jacuzzi) was glorious but standards didn't meet international criteria
We expected more organic products in the restaurant but unfortunatly we found only cream and honey,
Everything could've been very much better
We expected more respect for customer's time( they cancelled our 2 months before reserved and prepaid room just 1 day before arrival ??!!and we were obliged to stay one night in Tabriz

Don't forget the building of the hotel requires good stamina for the travelers

Room Tip: suite+jacuzzi is the best

The Laleh Rocky Hotel is an unforgetable experience. It is very atmospheric and certainly worth the visit. However it is not suitable for anyone elderly or with a mobility problem, as it requires climbing hundreds of rocky steps without handrails.
