“unique houses in between mountains”
Review of Masouleh Village

Masouleh Village
Reviewed January 3, 2014

masouleh village is a small village about 1-2 hours away from Rasht(the center of Gilan province in north of iran).it is very great and have many visitors from all around iran or abroad. the village has been located in between green mountains with fresh air and rivers. it's uniqueness has been lied in the architecture of it's houses that the roof of one can be the outdoor space of the other above.they have been made in rows some above others as you climb the mountain.besides, the traditional way of living by locales has added to the beauty of the village.all over the village you can find shops of hand-made goods like knitted dolls alongside with traditional bags, shoes, wooden mirrors with cumbs and many many things both useful and decorative.the village has a mosque in which a holy person has been buried as well. moreover ,the village has a museum of toxidermees of animals.some super markets and resturants which serve traditional foods are available either beside confectionaries of special cookies of Gilan which are very delicous.one can drive from Rasht to there and go back at night if you have accomodated in Rasht, but for those who want to spend night in Masouleh, there is a hotel there beside some locales who rent one floor of their houses to tourists. this time(despite the first time which we stayed in rasht),we rented a house from locales and it was very great,an spacious, two room house with kitchen and hall alongside with all the facilities a house can have.the price was not very high either.the reason we didnt go to hotel was that we want to experience the living in those seemingly old houses(which are new inside).many tourists come to village to take photos, whether from people and the way they live or from houses and nature as well.it is really great, and each season has it's own beauty there.dont miss it,if you come to Gilan province.you wont forget it.enjoy!!!
p.s: for the gradient on which all houses has been made, you should park your automobile at the ground before the mountain(that is safe and no problem),and go above to houses.only motorcycles can come in alleys for their narrowness.if you rent a house, there are some men who load your baggages on their wagon and bring them up for you.
