I was travelling for 2 months in Southeast Asia with a friend and one of the best places we stayed was this one. Really cool people who tried to do their best and gave lots of entertainment in the evenings (guitar playing etc), awesome to meet some other people.
We also did the jungle tour for 2 days, one night. On beforehand we thought that we would have one guide, but because all the people are so excited and really want to give you a lot of fun, we got 3 guides for a group of around 8 people. This jungle tour includes rafting, hiking and again lots of entertainment during the evening and night..

All together, a great place to stay, definitely wanna recommend to other travellers!

Staying at the Jungle Tribe was one of the best decisions I made for the trip. Although my friend and I were only there for a night, the staff welcomed us right from the start, where we were picked up by Agun from the airport even though we did not make prior arrangements. He took us to one of his favourite places to eat in Medan, afterwhich we set off for a memorable journey to Bukit Lawang singing along to songs from his phone.

Our room was awesome, situated along the river. Little touches of artwork and a roomy balcony with a hammock and deck chair. The only bad thing is that they don't have hot water, but we were fine with it. The restaurant/lobby was very laid-back and had plenty of room to lounge in. Staff were very sweet and entertaining, from tubing to playing guitar and singing- and they even prepared a small bonfire as it was the full moon.

I would recommend every visitor to Bukit Lawang to come to Jungle Tribe for its hospitality.

We were backpacking through SE Asia so used to roughing it in prison cell like rooms. This was a world away! Beautifully designed, the room was huge and overlooked the river and jungle. We spotted monkeys and on our last day we were really lucky to spot orangutans! The staff are lovely, they only have a couple of rooms but do have a restaurant and bar and we spent a couple of evenings having drinks with Jaka (who works there) whilst he strummed tunes for us on his guitar! Really lovely people and you cannot beat the setting.

Booked a 2 day trek through the jungle through Ali G who came to see us here and they are good guys to go with. It has been my dream to see orangutans in the wild so to trek and after only about an hour be so close to these semi wild amazing creatures was a real once in a lifetime experience. The team were good fun but so professional you're in good hands - these guys have grown up here so if anyone knows the jungle they do!

Stayed four nights at Jungle Tribe and loved it. Agun organised the airport pickup from Medan to Bukit Lawang for my wife, daughter and I. At BL we were greeted by 2 guys from Tribe who helped carry our bags to our lodgings. We stayed in the stand - alone riverside "house". My wife and I stayed in the upstairs apartment, whilst our daughter had the downstairs one to herself. Both offer great views of the river and surrounding jungle. Upstairs has a huge balcony and downstairs an even bigger terrace and outdoor area. Absolute river front so perfect for a dip in the river after a days trekking.

Accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Rooms have some nice rustic local touches with regards to furnishings and decoration that really add to the feel. You know you are not in a chain hotel.

The service from Agun and the boys was sensational. They organised all our activities whilst we were there. Jungle trekking, rafting, tubing, Bat cave and river picnics were all organised without a hitch and provided heaps of fun and laughs. The level of attention and service we got from Agun, Tommy, Ando, Jeffrey and Ilham really made this a special place to stay.

Food at restaurant also good with riverfront views and full bar. Can take a while for the food preparation, no place for the impatient.

Jungle Tribe is thoroughly reccommended and deserves full marks.

We were picked up at the airport by a guide and someone from the hotel and had a reservation for 1 room, for three nights. The rooms have great views and are next to the river that is used by the locals for washing etc. The jungle starts at the other riverbank, so it feels like sleeping in the jungle. An orang utan even came to build a nest just on the other side of the river.

The rooms aren't very clean and weren't cleaned during our three night sty. When we went on an overnight trekking, they wanted us to clear the room for other guests (they wouldn't charge us that night if we agreed) but given the previous comments we decided not to do that.

Given the fact that it's nearly in the jungle, you won't have hot water here and you'll find some insects in your room.

The staff were very friendly, and the food was good. Each room has a comfortable hammock outside.

The inn has a relaxed atmosphere that's great for backpackers.
